Fongs

Below average Chinese, the only difference in different Chicken or foods it seems is the sauce. I tend to judge places based on their orange chicken, because ya know, kinda hard to screw up, but the sauce is tasteless (Rice overcooked) and the experience is disappointing for the price. For two people to eat for around 20-25 is outrageous for the quality. I know Panda Express isn't the best, but they're miles better than this place (and cheaper!).

Our new favorite chinese restaurant! Steamed buns are so good! Authentic, clean, nice hosts. Besides the steamed buns we had black pepper chicken and lemon chicken. Big portions for price. Unique menu items that you don't see at other comparable places. They are saying they are closing at the end of this year. Please don't let this happen! What a treasure.

Delicious food, good prices, and friendly atmosphere. I see a lot of reviews talking smack about the fried rice. Yes, it doesn’t taste like Panda Express’s over-fried rice. Which i see as a blessing. Fong’s fried rice is the closest I’ve found to my adoptive Chinese mom’s cooking. It is cooked correctly and it’s delicious.

This chinese place is better than your average hole in the wall chinese place that is in every town. I ordered the curry chicken. The potatoes were a bit off. The carrot were a bit hard which isn't too bad but it seemed they were barely cooked. The chicken was too soft. The actual curry and rice was great. Good flavor. The food did come out pretty fast which was nice. Good for a in town meal but not for amazing cuisine.

I love Fong's! I am a fairly regular customer and my experience has always been friendly service, though we are usually served by the local college students. The food is a great price, and if you are a student at the university with a Student ID card they give you a 10% discount. The food comes usually within 10 minutes and in large portions, enough for almost two meals for me! And it's pretty good food unless you are some kind of food critic. I recommend the Lemon Chicken, the Sesame Chicken and the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Spending 10 dollars here versus 10 at Panda Express gives you much more and, in my opinion, much better food.

Fong's is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Full disclosure: I grew up here and there is no doubt that nostalgia plays a significant role, but I have spent my adult life trying to find a Chinese restaurant that scratches the same itch that Fong's does and I have never been able to find a satisfactory substitute. I've spent my life ordering Sweet and Sour Chicken or Lemon Chicken off of the lunch menu and that's what I heartily recommend. I make a point out of eating here pretty much every time I pass through Rexburg. It is what it is, I won't try to pretend otherwise, but in terms of Americanized Chinese food this is my absolute favorite. I have yet to find ANYthing else that even comes close to filling Fong's' shoes...
