The Tomato Cafe

Decent food at high prices. I visited with my mother and sister. I enjoyed my "spicy" rigatoni dish with spinach, cannellini beans, and guanciale (I believe, if my memory serves me right), though it was by no means spicy. My sister's pesto sauce was thick and very creamy, not at all the proper consistency. That's closer to a basil cream sauce if anything, though she did enjoy it. They asked both of us if we wanted a whole or half portion of pasta, which implies a large quantity of food. Don't be fooled, that's not the case. I imagine a half serving is only for combining different dishes. My mother's salad looked good, though it was a bit light for an entree listing, which if I remember correctly it was. The real issue here is that for prices like these, you expect either generous servings or stellar food, of which this was neither. That said, they did not yet have their pizza available. I'll return for it, but not for anything else. Edit: I have tried their pizza now, and it did not change my mind about the place.

Great food and friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere with a country feel. I had dinner which was Tuna Nicoise - outstanding! Very reasonable prices and you can order a half plate, which is plenty of food and leaves room for dessert! Wines are not pretentious and moderately priced. Breakfast all day?! I am going back for that.... Can't wait for outside dining on the patio..
