Chill little basically just hole in the wall place, BUT it's one of those ones that you wanna know about. Because the food is INCREDIBLE there. And it's exotic. Bomb. And the dude is hella chill, and makes it fresh to order. TRY THIS PLACE. Take out for a home date with company from here. You'll look like a boss.

Tried the shrimp basket with plantains and spicy slaw. Honestly some of the best food I’ve ever had, the seasoning, breading, and cook on the shrimp was all exceptional the slaw had the right amount of heat and the sauce they give you on the side is amazing. I also tried their chicken with Jollof rice. I recommend you pour the sauce all over the rice and chicken it definitely enhances the experience. I’ll definitely be back!! Thank you for feeding my soul.

Without a doubt, some of the best food in Portland!!!! I used to come nonstop when this was a food cart down by PSU. I have been googling it every 6 months wondering if it was open or not after the pandemic hit, and I finally got a chance to come. I got the shrimp basket & a side of Jollof rice, definitely the go-to.

Authentic, delicious Ghanaian food! The owner is absolutely delightful, the service is fantastic! I described a dish I hadn't had since my last visit to Ghana 8 years ago and he was so helpful to help me find it on the menu and become reacquainted with this divine dish! New favorite spot this side of the Atlantic for sure!

Wow!!! This place left me and my girlfriend speechless. Went to pick up an order from previously trying it earlier from the truck, but this time, I went to the location. Great comforting atmosphere. Food presentation on point. The sauces are different yet familiar, which is best I can explain, but good combined. I had the shrimp by itself. Loved it. Customer service is great with a smile, friendly energy, and my definition of customer service. They went above and beyond with patience in getting an understanding of the order. Food prepared in a timely manner where you are not wondering where your meal is at. It's definitely a top 5 for me.

Excellent restaurant with a friendly owner. This is the physical location of the popular food truck. It's located in a house with a parking lot, which is very helpful for the area. I got the chicken rice bowl with a side of the fried shrimp. The chicken came over a bed of flavorful jollof rice with a salad. There was also a tangy, spicy red sauce that came with it. The chicken and rice were both delicious. The shrimp was breaded and fried and came with a delightful sauce. I highly recommend it. My favorite was the drink. I can't remember what it was called, but it was a purple-colored fruit juice. I honestly can't even figure out what was in it, but it was sweet with a bit of a ginger bite and delicious. Check these guys out!

This was my first time trying Ghanian food and it was AMAZING! Highly recommended. It was so good I had to go back for a second bowl. Tried the shrimp bowl and the veggie bowl with black eyed peas. They both come with a spicy sauce which was delicious. The owner was very friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

Back before the pandemic changed everything, I worked in downtown Portland, and we hit the food carts usually at least once a week. One cart that I enjoyed on a regular basis was Black Star Grill, serving up some delicious Ghanaian food. Imagine my surprise to see it opening a takeout counter just a few blocks from my house. Finally tried it this weekend and was not disappointed. The jollof rice was amazing, as is the black-eyed pea stew, especially with some fried plantains on the side. We’re both vegans, so that’s pretty much the only options, but there are plenty of other choices for meat eaters. Great food, great prices and nice people. Looking forward to eating there again soon.
