Colonial Restaurant

The food was excellent and a great value. Filled my plate and my tummy. Service was fast and friendly. The motif of the place was interesting. The floor under our table had several pieces of food on it from X number of guests who sat there before us. Maybe short staffed? I'll definitely go back if I'm ever back in that area.

I really love the throw back layout of this place. From the pictures, the booths and the bar stools. I was in town visiting my daughter and she knows my favorite meal is breakfast. The two disappointments were the service and my omelette. When we first walked in, no hostess sign was up so we just grabbed a table. Both waitresses came by our table and said, “someone will be with you in a minute.” Then the smaller waitress goes to another table to pick up plates and look back over her shoulder, put the dishes down, turn to us, whip out her pad and pen and says, “do you guys know what you want?” We ask to see a menu, then she asks, “no one brought you a menu, I’ll get one for you. What would you like to drink?” Being a former waiter, I understand being busy but I can’t stand it when you ignore a customer or try to put them off for another waitress, then you come to the table acting surprised. My next take a way was, my omelette. Olive eggs and mines were over cooked to the point where the eggs was a little chewy. The rest of the meal was fine and I fasted the rest of the day to help my digestive system pass those eggs.

Pretty upset… Somebody should check, how their making the food, like a manager or the owner. Three strikes(times eating there) and your out. The pita bread for the gyro is old or not heated up in a pan, mashed potatoes obviously frozen, throwing it out. Ordered the seafood platter for my wife , after she worked 9 hours of hard labor in a factory, she’s throwing it out. The batter is definitely half cooked. All three times, there was something wrong, lesson learned. I know it is hard to find good help these days, in these hard economic times. I’ll leave it at that. It’s getting difficult to find good food in Port Huron anymore. I highly suggest Jillian’s North Coney Island & Grill in Kimball, I personally have had good experiences there. I will drive the extra 18 minutes from now on. I dislike taking my money to another community, but can’t keep being disappointed. I’ll continue to cook at home 6 days a week.
