Falafel & More

Wife and I came here and ordered a couple falafel wraps and a house special (which has three skewered types of meats). It was SO good. It was by far the best falafel we have ever had. The meats were also excellent. The side salad with the special is really just for decoration. The old guy with the eye is very kind, and is simply a master cook. He gave me an extra falafel to eat while I waited and once when my wife went by herself gave a little square of baclava (dessert). Don't forget to tip this great guy. I cannot emphasize enough how good his falafel and meats are. I have had falafel in several states and several countries in northwest Europe, and all have paled in comparison to this. We now visit every time we go anywhere near Plano.

Not very good. Feel bad writing this because place looks like it's struggling, but what I ate was horrible. I are the Shwarma and kibeh. I wasn't very hungry and prices aren't cheap so I ordered one Shwarma and one kibeh, he gave me two and expected me to pay for two. I told him I only wanted one of each, even when ordering I confirmed one of each, he then started to make a deal with me, but I told him I only wanted one, but I had to run and felt bad and looked authentic so I got it for the deal he said even though it was more than what I intended to spend. Shwarma was horrible. Lettuce was old, tomatoes were blah, pita was half burnt, and chicken was not good at all. The kibeh was good. Place looked bad, stuff every where and about 3 places had contradicting prices. Wouldn't go back. Wish it was good.

I went here today. I saw another review where a person complained that the guy behind the counter kept trying to upsell and he did this to us too. Kind of annoying. There are a lot more reviews for this place on yelp, be sure to go there for more reviews. The guy behind the counter has lazy eye, he asked me if I was ready to order, and since I didn't know if he was looking at me I just said, "hi!" apparently this was a stupid response and my brother says he gave him this exasperated look like, "ha, women are so dumb" At least that's the impression we got. I understand it may have just been an attempt at humor that we didn't get. the salad was dry, like it had been left on the counter or in the fridge for too long with no cover. The food had obviously been sitting around and then just thrown in the microwave. I found a piece of mold in my rice. The lamb meat on the kabobs was burnt. the dolmas were okay, the coffee tasted like diesel, was not good, there was some serious gunk on the the cutting knives, the place was dirty, and they had their inventory lying around the restaurant instead of tucked away from the dining area in some storage area. the hummus was pretty good, the baklava tastes stale, the lady in the head scarf behind the counter looked like she was doing all the work, and had to get the guy behind the counter to pay attention at all so I could pay and get out of there. He asked me if I liked the food and I said no. He didn't offer a refund. I just paid for my food and left. I just wanted to get out of there. I took the rest of my uneaten food to go, they gave me a plastic bag and some styrofoam containers, there was a broken tomato in the plastic bag. How does that even happen? Kind of a shame, I ate here 5 years ago and it was delicious. I don't know what happened.
