Dan Modern Chinese

REVIEW FOR TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE ONLY Ordered their $14.50 vegetable dan mein noodles for takeout at 5:37 PM on a Wednesday. It was surprisingly yummy! I loved the thick mein noodles and how flavorful it was. Only -1 star because both my friend and I tried ordering online, but it didn't work for either of us... and when I called to order on the phone instead, we were informed it was a 40 minute wait for the food. Parking was difficult at the site, given it is downtown. Otherwise, no other complaints! Their menu/food is more pricy than your usual Chinese restaurant, but it definitely seems more modern/upscale. Would still come back again!! Maybe next time dine-in and see how that experience is!

Solid 4 star. I’m glad there’s another Chinese option in Pasadena. Prices are reasonable and the quality is consistent. Service is top notch if you compare to Chinese restaurants LOL. Ordered: - mapo tofu - surprisingly legit. Big portion for 2-3 people. I approve this dish. - Popcorn Chicken- more like Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Some pieces were dry. PASS. - xiao long Bao: spicy pork is really good and interesting flavor. Their skin is a bit thick compared to their Chinese counterpart restaurant chain. - their fried rice is good but you might want to request sodium / salt level down a bit. Crab and short ribs are all great. - scallion pancake : fried and crispy but I like Noodle St better. - three-cup chicken: chicken is tender and flavor is definitely there.

Food is delicious!! I always try to find really good Chinese food on the west side and Dan has to be one of the best. Whenever I want Chinese food and can't get Din Tai Fung, I order Dan. In fact, I'm not sure if it's the same as the old ROC (which I found horrible), but Dan is so much better. There are so many options, including juicy pork dumplings (my one year old drinks the whole soup), cold little appetizers, crab fried rice, stir fry noodles, and garlic sauteed Chinese vegetables (like snow peas) sprouts and Chinese broccoli) . I love you all

With five Southern California locations, and two to come, dan modern chinese offers handmade Dumplings and Noodles amidst the sort of sterile environs that will make people originally from Wisconsin or Indiana feel more comfortable than traditional spots in the SGV. Part of an upscale shopping complex in Pasadena, with prices to match, it was after a quick vaccination card check plus sanitizer that three guests were seated, 7:00pm on New Year’s Day entirely uncrowded even though many other Restaurants were closed. Promising “the best quality Ingredients,” a kitchen behind glass visibly crafting items to-order, it was after moments deliberation that seven items were selected, Dan Mien with Chicken arriving first beneath glossy black Sauce and followed by Scallion Pancakes cut into strips that are about as flavorful as Matzah. Not left waiting long for more, crispy cubes of Tofu soon ready to be dipped in fragrant Soy, Pan-seared Dumplings filled with Pork were mostly under-seasoned but well-constructed and served alongside sugared Sauce swirled with Sriracha. Perfunctory in terms of service, the front-of-house generally gathered adjacent the kitchen chatting, Xiao Long Bao prove fresh, if not exemplary, the exterior a bit too thick and insides with more Soup than many which fares better by way of Pork (or a spicy version) than it does as Chicken.

Over seasoned noodles. Scallion pancake is not fresh, more like de-frozen and refried food. The pork they used in their dumplings could be better. Overall the food is pretty mediocre. Above are all my home country food. If you gave this five stars, you will have 10 stars experience when you visit Taiwan.
