La Cantina

This place is located In the beautiful down town of Opelika and is the only Mexican Cuisine place on the strip of restaurants there . Good ambiance and good furnishing . The food served is has a noticeable distinct flavor . Doing pineapple on chorizo taco , pickled onion on black bean flat bread pizza are some examples . Taste wise ...it's real nice , definitely recommend it ! Slightly expensive though in comparison to other local Mexican Eateries. The management was prompt to replace the tacos ...when my friend complained of it being cold and not warm enough . The waiter knew good bit about the menu , again showing good house of service ! Clean restrooms !! Over all a nice experience !!!!

I had dinner tonight with my sister and the food was absolutely delicious. We had such an awesome and informative waitress Briann. Anything we asked then she had an answer to each question. Also, the manager Jennifer was great and super friendly with greeting us upon arrival and made the restaurant atmosphere comfortable during the reopening phases due to the recent pandemic. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy the delicious steak burrito bowl and house margaritas.

I was originally going to rate them 2-stars, but that was before the entrees came. We came to la cantina because we had eaten here before and it was good, nothing to write home about, but good. Today was a totally different experience. We came to la cantina for a “cheat day”, they said they were slammed, but the restaurant was not even half full. We waited well over half an hour to receive our COLD food (including my 2-year-olds food—rice and beans) we called over not 1 but 2 managers on separate occasions after being kind of blown off by the first. While contemplating just leaving without eating we called over the second manager—wow! If you’re having to say to a table “not to be mean” you probably just shouldn’t say it. She said “so far you all have only been waiting 26 minutes and that’s really good to only have been waiting 26 minutes especially when we’re so packed”, as I looked around at the only other 3 occupied tables in the restaurants and the fact that the employees were having a pizza break at the table RIGHT BEHIND US, I couldn’t imagine what a slow day is for them. So after another 10+ minutes our food comes— hallelujah! Jk, it was cold. So after waiting OVER 30 minutes I sent my food back with only having taken a bite of my tacos not willing to wait another half hour for the hope that the next round might be warm. No comment from the manager (of course not) about the ice cold chicken I literally had them touch to show that it was actually COLD. I can guarantee they will never see me there again. I think I’d consider Taco Bell before coming here again, At least Taco Bell serves warm food and has the same management.

After a long day of moving we need some fuel and it was "Taco Tuesday!" So, at 8:35 we decided to try this place. I called to see if it was too late to dine in. The very nice lady said no, come on we will get a table ready for our party of 3. The atmosphere was very unique and entertaining. Matt was our waiter and he was very knowledgeable of their menu. The food was amazing! We will definitely be going back!! Loved this place!

Came in this evening (Friday around 7) and was immediately seated outside at request when the inside was crowded. Waitress was friendly and generally good except the time she disappeared which just coincided to be at the time we had already been waiting for right at 30 minutes. She finally comes and asks if we are okay. I tell her it's been more than 30 minutes. Her response was the kitchen was backed up. She comes back a few later with our food. Nearly 40 minutes from placing the order to the time we get our tacos and burrito bowl. The food was really good despite one taco being extremely small when you think about it costing 5 bucks! So, as you see, I am left conflicted. Really good food, decent service, but terrible timing for food that could have (theoretically) came out of a truck in a manner of minutes. If your kitchen cannot provide quality Tex Mex in 15 or less minutes, don't seat the customers. Seems to be logical to me.
