My family have been visiting for years and we really enjoy both the the buffet breakfast and carvery. Could have more variety of eggs for the breakfast and on certain occasions there has been limited veg options for the carvery but the food always tastes great and is very good value for money! Both parking and the seating are plentiful so booking isn’t always necessary. The service is always friendly too :)

A lovely experience! My partner, my son and I had a lovely get together with my sister, her partner and her son. The atmosphere was really nice, extremely nice people visiting the pub and the staff are friendly and polite. The food was really nice too, my sons pizza look so appetizing and must of been tasty as he ate it all. I had a burger that was also lovely and partner had multiple starters for his lunch 😅😂 and he enjoyed every one. There was a little play area but not really big enough for a 6 year old child but there was a few machines inside that my son enjoyed. The only bad thing I could say is we're was seat had a bench on one side of the table where we sat and it was old the pleather had peeled and the padding had gone. It was also very wobbly and uncomfortable but we didn't say anything so we did not give the staff chance to move but it wasn't the end of the world.

We had a family meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday, all six of us had the carvery. The pub was busy and so we were pleased we booked a table. We all enjoyed the meal, we were impressed that when we disclosed an allergy you provided clean serving spoons. Overall the meal was very nice, the only problems we encountered was that the cauliflower cheese for two people had a large lump of inedible hard stalk in it and some of the roast potatoes were overcooked, not just crispy which is low I like them, properly burnt with a nasty taste. There was also a very long queue for the carvery, but it was Sunday lunchtime which I guess is a popular time. One member of our party was a wheelchair user, the access to the building was level and provided reasonable access. As it was busy there were no blue badge parking bays available. One member of the party had to accompany the wheelchair user to the carvery as he obviously couldn’t carry a plate, which meant they had to queue again to collect their meal, this meant the people who queued first were almost finished when they returned with their food after queuing twice. Could you have a system where a carer can collect their meat after assisting a wheelchair user when it is busy? So a couple of improvements that could be easily made, but overall we had a lovely meal and we will return to The Shepherds, making sure we avoid the inedible parts of the cauliflower and burnt potatoes!

The food and service were really good. My only issue was my son and i wanted a mixed grill but unfortunately there was no steak on the menu. My 11 year old daughter loves a carvery and enjoyed her meal. In summary, it was a nice meal but not what i came for and the staff were busy but still pleasant and polite. As long as you don’t want a mixed grill you would enjoy the meal and the atmosphere 100%

Very clean. Did well to recover from flooding only a week ago. Great choice of food on carvery. Food quality and preparation were excellent. Great friendly staff. Superb value for money. Disappointed with ales Doombar served but end of barrel. John Smith s served but cloudy and end of barrel. Wainwright s ale looked ok but tasted vinegary. Need a good cellarman appointing who cares about what is served

We go most weeks and I have a small carvery which I think it's £6.29 and my friend has a traditional carvery. There are other dishes to choose from. Meat and vegetables always very nice and cooked to my liking which is Al dent.. I usually have beef and a a generous tasty portion is served by a friendly chef. All staff are friendly and we get served in a timely manner We normally go around 12 but yesterday we were a bit later at 2.30-the food was still fresh and In plentiful supply. It looked very appetising. You can also use Meercat Rewards Monday to Thursday so we were able to get 25% off both food and drink.. Bargain! However even without this the food is excellent value money. Would recommend.

Staff all really cheerful, pleasant and helpful, from the lady that welcomed us (sorted out the best route to our table for my mother ) , to the guy serving on the carvery (big beaming smile the whole time) to the person who bought our dog a bowl of water (unprompted). Food was excellent as always. Prices very reasonable. All in all its our go to location for informal family meals (9 of us ate yesterday all really happy with the experience).

Went with a friend for food at The Shepherds pub. It is a nice bar out of the way and has some good walks nearby at Cotgrave Country Park. Excellent pint of Wainwright. The food was good value for money and portion size was excellent. Burger was very well cooked and tasty. Asked for mayonnaise never got any brought out but apart from that service was good. Would return.
