Please go to Assaggi! We had dinner last evening at Assaggi and once again were filled with superlatives for the food, the service, the atmosphere - all transported us to Italy - and it is so close! The elegant table settings are welcoming in transporting us to an Italian experience, without the hassle of commuting far. The decor is like a jewelbox - intimate and welcoming with a sparkle that delights. The menu is expansive, making choices a real treat. The service is most attentive but not hovering. The four of us each selected different choices - pasta, fish, vegetables - and each of us thought our choice was the best. There are only enticing dishes offered. Each time we go, we feel totally transported from our daily routines and are always treated to the best of a culinary experience. My wife and I have gone to this restaurant twice and we've enjoyed both servers and their food. Their wine is wonderful, their antipasta, primero, and segundo courses are delicious. You really can't go wrong with the burrata, cheese board, their linguini lobster and their branzino. We highly recommend. Muhammad was a wonderful server!

Assaggi Osteria and Pizzeria is our go-to place for great pizza (Pizzeria) and extremely well executed fine Italian cuisine (Osteria). The restaurants are connected but separate. However, if you sit in the covered courtyard, you can order from both menus. We were there on July 7 and taken care of by our favorite server, Aleks. We split the spring salad; my wife had a pizza; and I had the black cod. Their seafood items are a delight as the freshness of the fish and shellfish is evident. Their filet steak entree is out of this world. Pasta items all feature in-house pasta. For those of you who have been there say perhaps 6 years ago and were turned off by the ‘ahem’ unfriendly behavior of the co-owner/manager (as we were), please go back. They have all new owners and a great manager (Dusan) and a very talented chef.

Lovely place, the food was really good. I didn't realize it was a collared shirt/nice shorts kind of place so I felt a little awkward but they didn't see. To be bothered by it. It's a bit pricy for the volume of food they give you. Complimentary bread when you sit, decent kids menu, delicious entrees--I had the prime rib, probably 6 oz. For almost $50, I expected a little more. That said, it was astoundingly good. Decent wine list, some signature cocktails, Coke products for the non-drinkers. I say go but leave the kids at home.

For our New Year’s Eve Wedding Anniversary dinner we ordered take out from Assaggi Osteria. The food was sublime, an appetizer of Prosciutto de Parma, fresh Buffalo Mozzarella, figs and Parmesan crisps, followed by Spicy Lobster linguine, Pappardelle with Wild Boar and Veal Ragu, and topped with a divine Tiramisu. Having spent a lot of time in Italy, this was true Italian food, delicious and hearty. The portions were generous, particularly the Appetizer - more than enough for two, and each pasta was too much for one person. Service was impeccable (pick up was changed three times with nary a complaint), and appropriately masked and welcoming. The cost was fair (less than $100 for this feast), and the feeling of supporting a special place through the pandemic was priceless! Highly recommended.

We ate here for the first time two nights ago and had a fabulous experience, from our interactions with the staff to the delicious food, that tastes just like I remember the food in Tuscany. We have been searching for a good Italian restaurant and are so thrilled to find this gem. There are lots of other Italian restaurants in the area, but the food at this one is the best.

Absolutely amazing pizza and food, which parents and kids alike enjoy. We've been there several times and rare that we find a place that everyone in the family enjoys eating at. I think one of the benefits is the Pizzeria shares the kitchen with the 5 Star Restaurant under the same roof. Personally I'd say don't miss the brussel sprouts! You'll have a great meal!

If your looking for classic Italian food for a fancy date, this is the place. Service is good, the restaurant is well maintained and clean, and the atmosphere is what you'd expect of an establishment in McLean. They serve some real classy Italian cuisine here. I took my date here for Valentine's Day and it did not disappoint.
