The Keep

I would have given this 5 stars if the chips on my last visit were not overcooked. The chip dip might have been overcooked as well but it still tasted so good. The wings were so crispy and very well cooked and seasoned. The chicken dip is my most favorite wing dip in New England. I also tried their house salad and it was very fresh and filling. I like that they have a very simple menu with can be enjoyed by everyone.

Boston quality food and cocktails without having to make the drive into the city. Perfect for a nice date night, meeting up with a friend for a drink after work, or catching some late night music. Fresh ingredients, a bar program that will delicately guide you out of your comfort zone, and attentive, friendly, & knowledgeable staff? It’d be a shame to pass this place up. You won’t regret making a stop here.

I don't get to go out very often, especially out of my area so I finally went out with some friends. The bartender there was super nice and kept up some fun conversation and recommended food that was fantastic. As a bartender myself I just wanted to give some kiddos to Molly for the enjoyable night out, she recommended some places to check out in the area and if I go back I hope I get to see that witty character again. Definitely enjoyed the place.

Where should I begin? Ah yes, located off the beaten path, The Keep, or as one of its bartender’s calls it; The Castle, is arguably the most complete bar in the city of Lowell. Where else can you occasionally find a sought after dram like Pappy Van Winkle, Weller, Birthday Bourbon, and other rare whiskeys for such amazing prices. Where else can you find such sought after rare beers such as the Run the Jewels collaboration with yankee & the brave. Have I even mentioned the cocktails yet?!? Where else can you get a beautifully curated cocktail that’s either on menu or one made to suit your palate…. Name a local place, don’t worry, I’ll wait. Add all of these up and throw in some innovative comfort food (Lowell’s original brick chicken, gumbo, and the best god damn wings ever) and you have a diamond in the rough. I’ve been going to The Keep since they’ve opened and the vibe there is unmatched; undefeated! The dimmed lights?! The way the candles flicker in the background?!? The way the music seems to gradually change in tempo and genre as the night progresses? What?! It all adds to the experience that no other bar in the city has mastered. I know it’s not advertised as a music venue, but their rotating list of DJs easily puts everyone else to shame. I also love how they’ve become a melting pot for the community, you can walk in and see all types of people, they do a wonderful job making everyone feel comfortable, something that is hard to do. Other places want to create a vibe, The Keep is a VIBE.
