Bubala was a truly delicious vegan/vegetarian experience. The portions were generous, the flavours rustic, and the food just kept coming! The oyster mushrooms were phenomenal and a real highlight. Certain aspects of the ordering process were a little confusing at first, it seems that you have to decide as a table whether you would like the food to be either vegetarian or vegan, rather than ordering individually. However, the split between vegan and vegetarian worked for our table. Sadly, our bill was overcharged by £30 which we only noticed when we got home. We are in contact with Bubula about this.

We had a really great time at Bubala, with the ambience and food adding to our night. The food was really delicious and the restaurant has done a great job with all the vegetables. It’s one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve been too and the food is great!

Amazing food, still thinking about it! The private dining room upstairs fits up to 20 people and it’s an amazing space for a group meal! I went for my 30th and there was so so much food, catered to dietary requirements. Highly recommend & will definitely be back!

Amazing. We were countertop for dinner, and had the vegetarian sharing menu. It was more than enough for the two of us, and lovely wines too. Everything was great - we felt we could’ve gladly eaten even just the bread and dips all evening.

What can I say? Absolutely delicious! What a vibe! We enjoyed the weekend lunch menu for £40pp and couldn’t finish all of the food. So many intense flavors and combinations. The restaurant offers vegetarian and vegan set menus, as well as an a la cart menu. I also have to rave about the tequila strawberry cosmopolitan. Yum!!

An amazing dinner, served by awesome staff in a buzzy atmosphere. Came after hearing about Bubala on the Off Menu podcast and it did not disappoint. The starters especially were absolutely incredible - even best the famous latkes for me! We had the Vegetarian Bubala knows best menu and advice would be, come hungry. It’s a lot of food and it’s rich. Absolutely divine and great value. We didn’t enjoy the wine we chose, so maybe ask for recommendations there. The staff are absolutely lovely and really helpful. Worth every penny.

A couple of good dishes but some misses as well. Went there for lunch. Service is fast, friendly and not rushed. Got a few dishes to share. The hummus with brown butter tasted good, but it was runny and there was very little of it. The falafel tasted a lot like baking soda and were mushy. However, the mushroom skewers were great, you don't miss the meat, albeit slightly salty. The roasted cauliflower was probably my favorite dish, especially with the salsa macha. The labneh was good too. Despite these issues, I think they showcase what a vegetarian restaurant can be. It's also vegan and gluten-free friendly.

Honestly my favorite restaurant in the entire world. Middle eastern food elevated to gourmet level and yet still as comforting as your grandma’s cooking. Portions are very generous, everything is super tasty and refined. Even the homemade drinks are amazing! I’ve recommended it over and over and everyone’s loved it! The staff is really welcoming, professional and warm. The atmosphere is intimate and joyful… it’s a 10/10 experience

As a big meat eater I can solidly say 10/10 - Didn’t even miss the meat at all. The oyster mushrooms were so meaty and smokey and the halloumi was like no halloumi I’ve ever had! A must eat place for everyone.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Bubala restaurant in Spitalfields and wanted to share my experience. The restaurant itself has an intimate and small setting, with a shabby chic interior that adds to its charm. Upon arrival, we were informed that the sharing menu was enforced for our large group, which came at a price of £40 per person. While I understand the concept of sharing menus, I found the price to be quite steep, especially considering the portion sizes and variety of dishes offered. That being said, most of the dishes we tried were indeed tasty. The standout for me was the Confit potato latkes, which were wonderfully crisp and flavorful. They were a true delight to eat. The hummus with burnt butter was another highlight, with a glorious nutty and salty flavor that elevated the dish. The Laffa bread served alongside the dips was also great. However, there were a couple of dishes that didn't quite hit the mark. The halloumi had a strange texture that divided opinions at the table. Some enjoyed it, while others found it off-putting. Additionally, the courgette main dish didn't resonate with my taste buds. It just didn't appeal to me personally. Overall, the food at Bubala restaurant is good, but I must admit that I don't believe it is worth the £40 per head price tag for the sharing menu. While some dishes were impressive, the overall value for money left me wanting more. If you're looking for a unique dining experience and don't mind the price, Bubala may be worth a visit. However, if you're seeking a more budget-friendly option, there are likely other options in the area that offer comparable quality at a lower cost.
