Backyard Bar

Probably my favourite comedy club in London. Been a few times in the last few years and always been entertained. They have a lot of up and coming acts and the comedians who will be on each night are listed on the website and the club's social media. Quite often there will be a space left open in the lineup and if you're lucky you might get to see a well-known comedian. There seems to be a regular rotation of the same hosts/MCs but they're always good. There's a bar when you first go in before the main comedy venue where there's a good selection of drinks and you can also order food such as pizzas. There's a ping pong table in the bar too. If you book in advance, you have to exchange your ticket for a wristband around 45 minutes before the comedy night starts otherwise there is a £3 surcharge per person. You can't collect someone's ticket on their behalf.

This place is amazing. Quite simply amazing. It’s not far from Bethnell Green tube station in a rather unassuming building. There is two half’s to the venue. The first is the bar and food area. The drinks are the same as you’d expect and the food is simple but decent. Pizzas, samosas, chips, etc. The comedy area itself is compact and good for it. There are great views of the stage from all seats. It’s well organised. But….it’s the comedians that set this place apart from other places. They have some really big names (we just saw Reginald D Hunter) as well as some less well known people. Of all the comedy clubs I’ve been to this is by far the best. I don’t live in London (or anywhere near it) but this is the fourth time I have been and will make a special trip just to go. Very very recommended.
