Umalu

We spent a lot of time at the bar at Umalu while we were staying at the Hyatt Regency Maui. The bartenders (mostly Andy & Rob) were EXCEPTIONAL!!! They treated us like regulars after our first visit to the bar and made us feel like we were at home in paradise. The food was great (highly recommend the wood fired pizza - Thursday thru Monday only) and the bar is a GREAT place to meet other hotel guests as well! Highly recommend Umalu while staying at the Hyatt Regency Maui or even if you’re just on the island in the area! Tell Andy that Christian & Aly from Austin say Hi!!!

Here are just a couple photos of Umalu. It's part of the Hyatt regency restaurants and I have to say their food is good not great. The convenience factor is why I gave it four stars and not three. I would have given it more stars if the food was worth driving to, But if you're not staying in this hotel, I'm not sure it's worth coming to visit. I hope this makes sense. If you are staying at this hotel you have to remember this is mediocre at best. One thing to note, the view here is shaded and definitely good for people watching and eating a quick bite to get out of the sun

We were staying next door at the Hyatt Residence Club so made reservations for 7pm on a Monday. It was busy when we got there. We ordered a Mai Tai and pogmosa. Both were good. We ordered the chips and queso and pretzel for Appetizers. The pretzel was so good, soft and warm- good queso too. It was huge! I don't like Mustard but tried the Mustard dip anyway and it wasn't bad for someone who dislikes Mustard! We ordered the burger and bltta. Both were great. We ended up ordering take out the next night- the pretzel and chips and wood fried Margherita pizza. It was busy again but they told us 20 minutes so we walked along the beach for a bit then came back. Again, the pretzel was great. We didn't really care for the pizza, it was under cooked and didn't have much flavor.

Cool spot to stop for a drink throughout the day! We ended up getting dinner here and it wasn’t busy at all, we were able to snag a couple of bar stools. We ordered 2 pizzas (Garden & Palace) which were surprisingly awesome! A bit pricey, but certainly recommend if you like to hang at the bar! Quick service too!
