Squires Rest

Fantastic place to meet the locals and fisherpeople of Juneau. I had a 9pm-1am layover and took a cab over. Immediately was engaged in conversation and even with horrible cab and ride share service I was able to catch a ride Back to the airport with a friend of the bartenders. Tab was so affordable too! Definitely recommend

I don't give out five stars very often, and this ended up being the third best out of 19 on the trip, so this is a very solid four-star review. This is also mostly for the food we had here, though the woman at the bar that served our soft drinks was very friendly. I'm not sure if I'd call this a dive bar, or not, but I kind of loved the atmosphere here. It was laid back and welcoming, something a place like this doesn't always achieve. The food was the star, though, and there was a lot of it. I am very picky about fish & chips, but I'd go back for these any time. I would definitely say this place is worth the drive out of Juneau.

Definitely a happening spot. The food is really good, the selection of alcohol is very good. The view of the harbor is one of the highlights. It's a great place in Juneau to dine out. I am rather surprised, that The Hot Bite is still in business with Squires rest around the corner. Good food, good alcohol, and friendly service. Very satisfied.

We are day drinkers- we like to have a few at a bar, especially if there's a game on, and then go about our day and go to bed early after watching some HGTV. We are not cool, in other words, so I can't speak to the nightlife in this bar at all. But Squirez Rest is a classic local bar during the day and early evening. Plentiful bar seating and table seating. Friendly service. Locals. The Devils Hideaway, the restaurant on premise, is a decent burger joint, and this is a great place to grab a burger and enjoy a beer with a great view of Auke Bay. We live in Douglas, though, so we don't get out here that often. So imagine my surprise when I walked in a few weeks ago and the bartender squealed and said, "Oh my god, you left your scarf here the last time you were here! Let me get it for you!" I didn't realize I'd left it. We'd been in twice so far in 2020. But she remembered me, held onto the scarf for probably a month, and returned it when I walked in the door. That's the kind of place Squirez is, and the kind of people who work there. A+.
