Most tasteless burger I ever tried to eat. No seasoning whatsoever and the bun was as stiff as cardboard. All they make are burgers , don't see how they got the other reviews. Too bad, liked the décor and owner was nice

If you pass through Gilmer and don't stop at Joe's, you've missed one heck of a treasure.
Joe preps the kitchen. Joe makes the burgers. Joe rings you up. It is truly Joe's Place. Get the double meat double pepper jack cheese. You won't regret it!

Absolutely delicious burger, wonderful ambiance and decorations, and Joe Henry himself deals out a level of hospitality almost unheard of anymore. Will definitely stop by again next time I'm in town

We stop by Joe's at least twice a year whenever we're in town, and I've never had a bad meal here! The owner (Joe, of course) is friendly and knows the locals, the decor is very 50s/40s inspired with some cool bench/desks for seating, and the burgers have always been made just as we like them and plenty juicy! There's not much of a selection, but the price is alright and the food never disappoints. Check in to make sure they're open though!

Great place. It's like fast food from home. The burgers are second to none and super juicy. Limited menu but when you do it right people keep coming back.

Unique Atmosphere of Burgers & Movies. A few weeks ago I was able to return to Joe's Place for the first time since the decor was changed. Man, the film related memorabilia is really cool! I recognized some movies from Turner Classic Movies and some that had even been spoofed by Mystery Science Theater 3000. While waiting for my order, a few customers talked about some of the movies they'd seen. It really made me wish I could visit the Gilmer of old when they showed some of these movies. I think at one time Gilmer had 3 different theaters simultaneously (2 on the square and a drive in). <br/><br/>I got a burger all the way and it was great. Joe's really has an atmosphere unlike any others I can think of. There are no tables, only a row of a half a dozen or so wooden desks against the wall. <br/><br/>p.s. Since most of the posters/photos deal with movies from the 40's-60's or so, I was surprised to see 2 photos of Zooey Deschanel (though it makes a little sense since she is retro a lot of the time with her dress and music).
