The Charcoal Grill

Very disappointed. Gave two stars because the staff was nice. They said hello. I will preface that I ate off the food truck. They had no menu at street level. I had to walk up onto the stage to fine out they had 3 items on the menu. Then when I ordered nice was asked if I wanted anything else. I asked is the rice and beans available since it's not on the paper menu you wrote at the last minute. She said I could get it with my fried pork. $9. Three of the four pieces were dry and the beans were under done. Very disappointed. Later when a friend went to eat at the food truck she got the fried pork but the rice and beans, plantains, and slaw were part of the meal for less than $9. Worst consistency for a food truck. I hope the restaurant is better. Food truck no bueno.

I love Nicaraguan food, which I've eaten down south before. My Spanish girlfriend found this place and we decided to give it a shot. It's a cute spot but didn't look busy, which is not the best sign. We ordered 2 carne asada plates with fried cheese and an extra side of the beans/rice (gallo pinto). The beef was good, however, everything else, not so much. The rice and beans were hard, undercooked? The fried cheese was over cooked, very rubbery. it was mediocre at best and the portions were quite small, even the slaw side that comes with it was very little. it's a shame because we love this type of food, perhaps this was just an off day for them. We may try again, if it looks busy.

Where to begin with Charcoal Grill??! First off, I called for pickup and the employee who took my order was incredibly helpful in explaining the menu and making recommendations. The restaurant turned out to be bigger than I imagined and it’s was cute/ welcoming. The minute the food came out it smelled incredible; I wished my family was with me so we could eat immediately! We got the steak w/ onions, grilled chicken and Asada plates; which were simply yummy, well prepared and the Carne Asada plate was one of the best we have had in a while! Their beef empanadas, rice and beans, plantains and Nica slaw were simply delicious. While chatting with the friendly employee he informed me that they also serve breakfast, which I can’t wait to try!! If you love Latin food look no further- Charcoal Grill will not disappoint! Lastly, I’m amazed by their price point for the amount and freshness of food served!

Today we picked up one meal with steak and one with chicken. Red beans & rice, plantains, and slaw. NOTE to the owners; the seasoning is good but around 5:00 pm both meats and rice were VERY dry. Meat was WAY overcooked. We,are very happy to get new restaurant but please consider how you can prevent this..... or your business won't last. Maybe use thighs vs breasts, and a different cut of steak. It should not have been overcooked at 5 pm. Also, please consider rotating menu with dishes that won't dry out. We would love to see your business thrive so please take this and other similar reviews seriously.

Worst place ever! The restaurant is totally not busy with one table of two customers. Had to wait forever for simple sandwiches to be made. Waited 55 mins for two simple sandwiches OMG! As a restaurant you should first be able to serve food rather quickly during lunch as most of us do not have much lunch break time. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever! Please avoid this place. The service is horrible as well, have to wait forever for water to be refilled while waiting in hunger as well. The owner was very very rude......We told her we are pretty hungry and hoping to put a rush to our order. And she responded with coldness:“ well it’s lunch time you know？“ Yes we know! that’s why we waited almost an hour! Not a simple apology for the long wait. Shame on you! Worst! Worst ever!

IWhen they cooked out of the food truck it seemed better. Now it takes a lot longer to get your food, it's just as expensive and many times the rice and tostones are either cold or hard and not fresh. Was really hoping the new remodeling would help but it doesn't. I hope things get better. I will try them again in a month and revise my review.
