Something Different

Based on reviews & our route today — we elected to try out this small, low key, casual cafe/diner. Service was good. Food quality was very good (double cheeseburger with extra pickles) & my wife had the French-dip. Not fancy. Not super clean but the place was practically packed with locals enjoying their entrees. Back home we used to say a place like this was “a greasy spoon — hole in the wall” but great food — I think that’s appropriate here as well.

The burgers ROCK! I love a really good burger and they certainly make a great one! Brioche buns, thick-cut real bacon, yummy melted cheese, and a huge beef patty. I was full after half of it, but ate the entire thing! Kid had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and loved it. I had the Amadillo Burger without onions. It had jalapeno cream cheese! Sooo good and 4 type of fries! The service was great and the ladies are so nice! You can watch them make your food, if you want. This place is tiny. I will be eating here as I drive between College Station and Dallas to visit my TX A&M student. I found my new favorite Burger!

Something Different is a great small town diner where the staff were really friendly and the food was excellent. I can’t go back there soon enough!! The breakfast options sound fantastic. I got the fish sandwich with fries and a German chocolate cake. The baker makes fresh desserts twice a week. If I lived closer, I’d eat here all the time and would get super fat. Thanks Something Different for a great dinner!!

The food was great and the service was excellent!! Riley was our waitress, she was attentive and helpful while we were ordering and during our meal!! I was going to order the chicken salad sandwich and eat the chicken salad without eating the bread. Riley ask if I wanted the chicken salad with fruit... it was absolutely what I wanted and the fruit was served with a homemade poppy seed dressing that they make there at the restaurant themselves! It was divine!! If you're around or near Fairfield, stop and eat at the Something Different!

I met my daughter son-in-law and grandbaby here for dinner one night when I was in town. I got the sandwich called sloppy Johnny or something like that. It was good... Got chips with it because they're fries are typical Frozen and the other sandwiches that my family got looked average also. My huge disappointment what's the strawberry cake and lemon pie. Both of these were cold, dry, and tasted extremely fake. Definitely not what I was expecting here when usually the desserts at little places like this is outstanding. Service was fantastic so therefore causes my rating to be higher. As far as the food goes it is just very average Food service diner type food but the desserts lack a lot. Because of the friendly and fast service, this would be a place that I wouldn't rule out from going back to.
