Panda Express

They disappointed us so much by changing the paper box to cheap, non-heatable, and environmental-detrimental plastic box. Meanwhile, the quality of food has proven to be very volatile, people constantly get surprised by not fully cooked meat and the hardness of rice. Hard pass until they start to care about customer experience and quality control again.

We have often ordered from Panda express on Duke campus at Bryan center over the past three years when we just don't want to cook. They have always been exceptional. Really! But tonight was a miss. What I look forward to is FRESH vegetables and well cooked meat. You totally missed on the fresh vegetables and the meat was just ok. What happened? New cooks? No!!! I would say new management because no GOOD manager would let fairly old broccoli to be cooked. You can't hide the age with sauce!! Really??!! You had better get back to the old Panda we loved and knew. Just because there are less students on the campus does not mean you can lower the bar on the ingredients you use!!!

I would like to reiterate that if you do NOT have a Duke student ID, you cannot enter this Panda Express. I am currently a visiting graduate student at Duke, and my ID did not work. Before this year, I was able to access this Panda Express without the use of an ID, and frequently enjoyed the food from this location. However, after reopening this year, it appears as if this Panda Express now requires ID access. I understand that Panda Express is using Duke facilities, and given the pandemic, they are limiting access to their facilities, but I would have appreciated knowing this before driving over, parking my car, and walking over only to see that I could not access it despite working at Duke. However, it does seem unfair that a public chain restaurant can only be accessed by Duke students. DO NOT VISIT IF YOU ARE NOT AT DUKE STUDENT OR DO NOT HAVE A DUKE STUDENT ID.

DON’T BOTHER TRYING TO GO IN IF YOU DON’T HAVE A STUDENT ID. I went during my lunch break, parked (parking is $2.00) and I couldn’t even get inside the building! I called inside because I was flustered and rushing and was basically told (in a rude tone) that I’m not supposed to be inside without a card and the only way to go inside is to walk in, behind someone, then she proceeded to act as if she couldn’t hear me by saying hello over and over again then hung up. I’m pregnant and left my lunch on the counter at home (mistakenly) so I figured this was a great alternative... WRONG! I was a few minutes late coming back from lunch because of this (I still had to find lunch). Thank God my supervisor was understanding. But long story short... don’t bother going without a card. This terrible experience was very inconvenient and a total waste of time. :(
