Solway Gate Table Table

I'm giving it four stars based on the fact that for what it is, it's above average. By that, I mean it's a chain restaurant on the side of a busy road, so it's not fancy by any means, but the menu was varied, including lots of vegan options, the prices are reasonable, and it's all perfectly acceptable. The thing that elevates it the most though is the staff - we were staying in the adjoining Premier Inn for three nights with a very large group, so we opted to eat in the restaurant every night, and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly - especially given we were perhaps a tad raucous at times. So, all in all, I definitely rate this place 🙂

We stay in Dumfries and come here regularly. We like to sit at the window in the conservatory where we were sitting tonight. We didn’t have our usual young man serving us tonight. We did in fact have Isla, who was equally as helpful and attentive. Anna was also there to support her a she was a new member of staff. Our meal was excellent as usual. I can’t fault the restaurant or their staff. For some reason they always get good staff. Well done to all

We had a table booked for 8.30pm. On arrival we were told it would take an hour at least to get our food. 3 of us ordered sirloin but received rump. Having waited over the hour we accepted the meal. We then ordered desserts. A staff member told us the chef had left but she would make them for us. Then we were advised only vegan ice cream left. We received them at the table and a few minutes later told we were to eat them in the bar where there was no seating as they had to get the tables ready for breakfast. Complained to the manager but would have been better speaking to the wall. Will never eat there again.

Very poor customer service. Booked a table here on Friday night. Waited by reception area to get seated but just ignored by staff. Walked up to bar and still ignored my staff. Finally manager got some one to seat us. Food was OK. Both the mains and puddings ordered were out of stock and had to be reordered. When the pudding finally came, the staff then started going round the restaurant hoovering.
