Mt Cup Cafe

I ordered an extra hot hot chocolate at the Dover, Biggin Street branch. The lady preparing the drinks already had an open one sitting at the counter. When her colleague advised her it had to be extra hot, she stuck what looked like a thermometer inside the already made drink sitting on the counter, ( who knows how long it had been sitting there for, open ?) made a fresh batch, tipped out some from the cup into the sink and topped up with the freshly made hot chocolate. As I was walking out of costas, drink in hand, the cup felt barely warm. I was disappointed with the quality and temperature of the hot chocolate. I tried to ring them to express my disappointment with the service and product, but the number listed is either delisted or out of order. The lady working the tills was lovely though.

To be clear, this is Costa St James's. Not main town. I found the experience particularly poor, compared to the one in the main town. Staff appeared stand around, not doing anything, whilst there is a queue going out close to the door. Whilst it's okay to have a laugh and a joke at work, it is best to serve frustrated customers first. I saw a number of them walk out due to waiting times. Moreover, as staff were standing around, they could have been more proactive by cleaning the tables. It appeared only one member was both serving and making drinks, out of four. There seemed to be no management in place, and service was poor. That said, once we finally got our drinks, they were of adequate quality. Not quite the same as Dovers main store, where I'd give this 5 stars.
