Spice Root

This restaurant seems to be under new management. My first impression is that I see a sign with a reduced price buffet. That's a red flag for me. They offered us buffet or menu, so naturally, we picked the menu. The waitress recommended the Chicken Tikka and another lamb dish, as well as the naan and kabobs. Me and my friend settled on Chicken Samosas, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Biriyani, various naan breads and the Mango Lassi. Everything was wonderful, the service, the food, no dirty dishes. I really enjoyed everything. There are a few things to hit on. I wish my chicken tikka had more chicken, but the sauce was excellent. I wish the Lassi was colder. Other than those little points it was a great dining experience. There are a lot of Indian options in the area, and they have to deal with what I see to be a bad reputation by the old owner, but it is worth another try now. Very good at reasonable prices.

This is my 4th time visiting this place within a month!! Love the food and the management is great! The food is obviously delicious and that is the main reason why I am back now and then🤷🏼‍♀️ So far I have had Kadhai chicken, chicken biryani, veg biryani, lassi, falooda, butter chicken and lemme tell you all its the best! There are alot of hyped indian restaurants nearby and those are nothing compared to this one they just more known I guess but this is the best food I have had after moving to the States 😋😋😋 and the place is clean and open until 10 rest close at 9 so thats a plus!! I will be back again!

3/12/22 just ate at this place and the buffet was great and reasonably priced. Under new management so the young lady that helped my mom and myself was great and very attentive. The Buffett allows you to try the different entrees if you are not sure and the menu has plenty of items to select from. I didn’t know the past management but the new management is making a great attempt at bringing the Spice Root back in Decatur.

I order curry chicken... You can pretty much say they given me sloppy second. The sauce was broken( culinary people understand) and when I bite into the chicken it was ice cold. They given me leftover....uggghhh. Please don't waste your time going there. My only thought with this experience is that they're business is really slow that should make them want to please every customer that walk through their door not disappoint them.

This place has been under new management the last few months and our experience has been fantastic. The food is great, ready fast (usually 10-15 minute pickup), and they also make fresh naan/puri for every order that just elevates the experience. Highly recommend trying the Chicken Malai boti, Lamb Seekh Kabob, Garlic Naan, and Onion Kulcha. If you look at the negative reviews, most were with the old management (more than 3-4 months ago) that really seemed to be struggling near the end, they had greatly reduced the menu and what they had didn't seem very fresh. I recommend you give this place another shot if you haven't eaten there recently.

It was our FIRST TRY, and UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP...big difference from what I read on other reviews…HANDS DOWN so TASTY, FRESH and had enough for leftovers for my boys’ lunch today. My personal favorite are the samosas the flavor kicked all of my taste buds. The biryani wasn’t oily and the meat was so Juicy, husband’s favorite. Lastly we had the butter chicken, the taste was so creamy and fulfilling, we were tangled back and forth between sweet and a hint of spice that made you keep going back for more…don’t forget that Naan!!
