Deckers Express

So good!! I saw this place while passing by yesterday, and I'm so glad I stopped in for lunch. I was greeted by the most friendly gal. I ordered a rueben, that is always my test of a new (to me) sandwich place. Y'all that was one of the best rueben's I have ever had. It was hot, had the perfect ratio of ingredients, just amazing. Fries were also very fresh and perfectly cooked. Their pickles are even great. It all came out quickly too. If you get the chance, go!

My 'cheat' lunch go to was the French Dip but today cured me. I had noticed the bread and meat quality changed last month but today I was charged $12 for a half smushed sandwich & cold salty undercooked fries $2 more than usual! Not worth it at all. Really disappointing. So there's that but to chime in on someone else's post - if you wear a mask in there you will be the only one so don't be surprised by the stares you get from customers AND staff. That's going to be my last visit, it's time to find a new 'cheat' lunch place. :-(

If you don't like social distance in seating, prefer wait-staff to serve mask-free, don't mind patrons who cough but won't cover and cheer an ownership that discourages guests from encouraging different (I complained to a diner who'd seated himself at a table next to ours even as the restaurant was nearly empty with ample, safer tables open, when he began to cough, he did oblige in taking a new seat, I said 'Thank you' and the cashier apologized to him for my behavior), this eatery is for you. When the pandemic finally passes, so too will these new mores designed to prevent the spread of virus, though, covering your mouth in a cough will always be good form. But until that day, and I hope most of us are here to see it, courtesies can easily be followed without politics or sacrificing pride. My wife and I had placed our orders, paid (+ tip) but left when dining was made awkward. We were offered takeout, declined (Why would we trust a kitchen whose dining didn't follow basic pandemic guidelines?), then given a verbal shove out the door on a sarcastic and loud 'Have a nice day (11.19.20; edit 11.29)!'
