Covington Dickeys

I was excited about the prospect of a good BBQ place in Covington. What I got instead was a pretty terrible dining experience. I decided to try a little of everything - ribs, chicken, sides. It cost me $42. Nothing was good. I should have known up front that something was wrong when they pulled all their meat from metal containers and it was wrapped in cellophane. The meat was pretty dry and the sides did not taste good. The sauces were the highlight though I wouldn't say any of them was spectacular. The only thing good about the trip is that I tried enough of everything to know that nothing they make is anywhere close to tasty

Wasn’t happy with my experience today, although staff was nice, the food at best was only warm and didn’t seem fresh, my husbands was cold. Seems to have gone downhill from when it opened. The floors were very greasy and slick to walk on, looked as if the entire place was mopped with dirty greasy water. Don’t think we will be returning , very disappointing. Also Ice cream machine was broken. The butter for rolls was cold and hard as well. Expected more from them.

Not really a fan of this location. Compared to the downtown Kent location this one fails pretty hard. The first time we came into this location was at 4:45pm we had stopped in for an early dinner (for us) and they were already out of Beef Brisket and Baked Beans. Seriously? You're open for another 4 hours and 15 minutes, couldn't you have thrown more in the smoker when you were running low at 2pm? We just left because the kids all love the Brisket. The second time we went in there at around 6pm they were out of the Baked Potato Casserole (which I like), and Baked Beans(which one of my daughters like). But we decided to stick it out and get different sides. Dinner went ok, but their ice cream machine was on the fritz and dispensed one cone but refused to work for any more ice cream. I inquired with the workers and they told me they've been complaining to the manager for weeks about this machine and that it always doesn't work. After 10 minutes of them fussing with it it finally let out 4 more cones that were very runny and almost melted. I've never had issues like this at the downtown Kent location. I'd rather drive 15 minutes down to that one and guarantee a better experience. I'm not going to give these guys another chance.

We've had different BBQ places in the area so I was a little skeptical of the chain coming to town. My first experience was amazing! I picked up food for my family (3 sandwiches: sliced beef brisket, marinated chicken and pulled pork). All were perfectly prepared and full of smokey goodness. We also got an assortment of sides (baked potato casserole, mac & cheese, baked beans, green beans & bacon, dill potato salad and coleslaw) all which tasted fresh and full of spices. I'll definitely go back!

Always solid food. The ribs don't fall off the bone, but they aren't tough either. They are seasoned well and the sauces provided go very well with them. The spicy sauce should be hotter though, it's mild. The fried okra tastes perfect but could use some salt in the batter. Overall a great place to eat.
