Cookhouse

We went here for years under the previous management. But under the current management, the food quality went down significantly. Between that and the public blatant mistreatment of the employees by the owner and his always rude and mean son and the cockroaches that we would see runming through the restaurant almost every visit, we have not in a while now and never will step foot in here again. I recommend Bob Evans or the Soda shop for similar priced far better, far nicer, and far cleaner breakfast.

Whoa Nelly! The South will never rise again. We're too busy making and eating great fine food as this. I went ahead and included the ticket so y'all believe me when I say the did has value. I'm assuming they created the menu in 1970 and never changed the prices. Our waiter was great as well. Didn't catch his name. Short black hair. Nice guy. 2nd visit. Breakfast. Great. Yum. Biscuit fell apart though. Try puting buttermilk and egg in there maybe. I'm sure there's some tech to do it. My mother's don't fall apart. I'll get her in touch with you.

I’m sad. They are closing but happy for Phyllis that she is retiring. We have been going there for several years and are surely going to miss them, and our waiter Mike!! It more like a “diner” than anything else around this area. If you have never been to a real diner you wouldn't. understand. We wish Phyllis and her husband, George the cook George and Mike our waiter the best and a happy and prosperous future.

Our party of 6 were seated by the woman at the front cashier station (the owner). She was not at all friendly or welcoming. The food was average, the waitress was very good. When checking out, I used a master card, stood there 10 minutes while she tried my card multiple times, my card wasn't rejected, the machine kept saying try again. Finally, she said I have to pay by cash since the machine didn't work sometimes; luckily together my husband and I had barely enough cash ($50 + a $4 tip which was significantly lower than I would have included on my card). Anyway, she could have cared less and never apologized for the inconvenience and was rude to other patrons entering during the time I waited for my card to go through.....She is not a people person, so maybe should be relocated where courtesy and manners aren't expected as a hostess/cashier. We won't be back.

The Good: Seems like a very homey, locals spot for breakfast. The wait staff was really, really nice. The Bad: We waited quite a bit for a table for 2 and again for the food. The interior of the restaurant is in serious need of updating. The food was fresh but average and overall tasteless. We would not go back.
