Always love coming here when I’m in the area. All the food I have tried is simply awesome. The beers and ciders are cold and delicious. Staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the products. It’s a shame that 5 stars is the maximum. See you again shortly.

Food is generous sizing and delicious. Wait stuff were so attentive and full of personality which I love. Recommend booking as it gets very busy however staff will do their best to seat wherever is possible. We sat in the outdoor area but with the heaters on and the blinds down we were still warm.

Coldstream Brewery is a run of the mill brewery, not too far out from the city. Small (and kinda dark) seating space inside but plenty of outdoor seating for regular or function dining.
I ordered the pale ale (4.5%) and my friends ordered the mojo cider (5%) which was a bit too sweet.
Food servings were enough for four adults. The Japanese popcorn chicken was so burnt it was inedible. Tortilla for the tacos could’ve done with a few minutes on the grill to give it extra flavour. Pizza was loaded which was good after a few beers.
Customer service was amazing and everyone was friendly and attentive.

Beers and burgers sensational! Honestly one of the better burgers I’ve ever had. I had the beef burger, my partner the southern fried chicken burger. I also tried their mojito cider and it was damn refreshing! Their pale ale and golden ale were also favourite La of ours. Definitely recommend checking this brewery out when in the area! We’ll be back again for sure

Great menu, lots of good options I wanted to try but alas I have to pick one....and went with the 500g Pork Ribs. Unfortunately it wasn't very impressive as it was dry and burnt on some bits. Good beer battered chips though, and the salad too.
I ordered dessert with my mains but somehow they never entered it into their system and I had to leave, so didn't get to try their desserts.
Expect to pay min $30 for a parma and min $22 for their pizzas...prices are a little steep.
It says in their menu they don't split bills but you can still do it, just in a different way, by telling them the total amount you want to pay.

Called into Coldstream Brewery to sample some of their beers. We were glad to see they had tasting paddles where you could taste all their 4 regular beers and both their apple and their pear cider. For a little extra we got to try their seasonal varieties as they were tasty indeed. I liked the refreshing Australian Pale Ale most out this 8 drink collection. If beer ain’t your thing the bar here has an impressive whisky collection that would well be worth a perusal.

Saturday lunch with hubby and baby on a gorgeous day. I had nachos, hubby the ribs (500gm), and fish n chips for bub. We drank Australian Pale Ale and Golden Ale (this one was AMAZING!!).<br/><br/>The restaurant was busy, staff super friendly, meals huge, served so fast, and beer delicious. Our server was incredibly attentive and very happy to accommodate our baby (who threw food all over the floor!). Had dinner here last night for our Anniversary, took both children. We’ve always enjoyed coming here for dinner, however food quality has dropped. Customer service has also dropped. It was a Monday night and I understand that it’s a quiet night but it’s not an excuse to forget or care for your tables, we’ve had to get someone’s attention to get more drinks, they’ve also forgotten part of our order. Our steak was not cooked to our liking, steak cooked rare instead of medium. Maple bourbon sauce is literally maple syrup, assuming it was a maple infused gravy. Chips are underdone and soggy.

When you need a change of wine and cheese/dairy, coldstream is a great spot to get some yeast and hops. Cosy warm interior, lots of wood. We got a few tasters on our way. Friendly staff - definitely worth a stop while you're visiting the Yarra Valley.

Disappointed. Had the gnocchi which tasted like clag! If you don’t know how to make it, then don’t have it on the menu! <br/>Wine was lovely, once I reseeded to the fact I was drinking it from a dirty glass. A great joint on the way to the Yarra Valley, we stopped at Coldstream Brewery for lunch. The dining room looked swish and we would have opted for this but it was booked out, so we lunched in the lounge area instead.<br/><br/>The customary beer paddle was very good, with the Australian lager and pale ale going down well, as did, surprisingly, the apple cider.<br/><br/>But to satisfy the hunger pangs we ordered the nachos. Not that I've ordered that many, these were the best nachos I've had - the chillies really taking it to the next level. This place is definitely worth a peep - next time I'll pre-book for the dining room on the weekend for lunch. Four beer tastings out of five from me.

Visited here with my friends and their family. It was packed to the rafters even though the weather wasn’t too favourable due to it being a long weekend. We had made a booking but we arrived early so settler ourselves near the bar whilst we waited. There were lots of Mexican decorations in celebration of the new Lucha Lager they had on tap. We had a few drinks and some Truffle Fries. After a while our table was ready (though it was actually free earlier than when we were seated as they forgot we were waiting!).<br/><br/>Once we got settled in the service was super friendly and water brought to the table. To say portion sizes were large is an understatement. Make sure you bring an appetite with you especially if you pick something like the ribs or parmas. I had the Pulled Pork Parma and it was definitely meat on meat. The chicken is nice and crispy and topped with tender pulled pork with bbq sauce and melted cheese. Served with a mountain of chips and salad. We had Trio Of Dips to share as well. Loved the caramelised onion one the most and lots of Turkish bread to dip into them. Everyone was pleased with their orders and we all left satisfied and ready for a siesta.

Family feast of Parmas to support the farmers, they dealt with a group of 12 without an issue and the Parma was Great, they offered up the traditional and the BBQ Pulled pork Chicken Parma, huge hunks of chicken with amazing pull pork, bbq and Cheese on top.<br/><br/>We all indulged in the Beers on tap and a particular fan gave was the Grand Porter.<br/><br/>Will def return in future for another amazing Parma.

I’ve always wanted to visit this place for a long time now and it was excellent! I’m an occasional fan of the cider so today I tried the cider mojito and OMGosh... Hahahaha why isn’t this in a bottle? <br/><br/>The flavour was obviously cider but with some extra special ingredients to make an 8% monster!And it tasted soo good lol<br/><br/>This place also sells some bar food and Coldstream beer. Underwhelmed. Food is priced to high for the quantity and quality that you get. Drinks are fantastic though, the sampler is a must try. Staff were not that attentive and seemed very rushed. We had to self serve our own cutlery as we asked a couple of times and it took a long time to get someone’s attention to order, even though we walked up to the bar.

I came here tonight for a work function. What I did enjoy was the nice relaxed urban decor, super friendly, attentive and informative staff and the quick service. <br/>We had pizza (maple bacon pizza, pumpkin pizza and mushroom pizza) and fries to share. I felt the prices were a bit steep for what you got. Flavours were hit and miss, but the fantastic service more than made up for what was lacking in the food department. Would I go back? Well, I personally wouldn’t suggest this venue but I wouldn’t say no if invited here again.

I think the 3.5 rating is perfect.... when we visited on a Saturday evening the place was absolutely packed! 2 things we ordered they had totally run out of. However staff were friendly and absolutely slammed, I felt sorry for them. The spicy chicken was amazing and so wad the apple and pear cider.

My rating is purely on the beer cocktails! I thoroughly enjoyed a cocktail that had golden ale, Pimms and fresh fruits. The staff member was super enthusiastic about the cocktail menu I just had to try it and I’m so glad I did. Better than the usual Pimms cocktail by far!! Worth stopping just for one of these to quench your thirst.

Popped in for an unplanned lunch with some friends. It was quite busy so we had to sit outside and unfortunately this particular day was raining and cold. It would be great if they had more heating for the winter and the roof didn't leak on the seating area. The service was good and the food wasn't bad. I had a look at the other reviews and it seems like the service and food have improved. It was a cold day and they had the heater on with some really relaxing chill out music. <br/><br/>The only thing that might have put me off my meal is, if I needed to go to the toilet half way through my meal, because they were so grose. Luckily I only needed to go after my meal, so I was safe. Other than that, everything was spot on and the cider was delicious.<br/><br/>We'll be back to try again and perhaps bring friends.

Dined here on Sun for lunch - last minute so just turned up and got a table in the very back section. We shared the pork belly sliders (delicious) and the spanish lamb pizza (tasty but not very generous with the lamb and it was quite shredded so hard to taste also). Was a nice place to grab a quick bite. Hope to come back and try some more items off the menu - my recommendation is to be more generous with your lamb on the lamb pizza - we ordered it as we LOVE lamb and didn't get enough of it. Service was friendly and background music added a great vibe/ambience.

I was in the area with 6 others and was recommended to visit Coldstream Brewery for a hearty meal. We arrived just before 6pm without a booking and was seated immediately. The interior was warm and inviting with a true brewery/ Australian pub authenticity. We ordered the Salt and Pepper squid (entree), truffle fries, Spanish lamb pizza, Mushroom pizza, fish curry, the sweet and sour pork belly and tasting paddles (4 beers and 2 ciders). <br/><br/>The true stand out was the pork belly. The glaze was perfectly balanced of sweet and sour, the wilted greens salad had a dressing that made myself and my company go back for more, and that crackling skin was absolutely superb! However I'm afraid that's all for positivity. The service was slow given the restaurant was practically empty and I had the expectation that the entree would come out first before our mains. The shoestring truffle fries were cold and lacked the satisfying crunch. And the rice which accompanied the fish curry was cooked AL DENTE?! Not good in terms of palatability. <br/><br/>Come here if you want a good bev with friends but maybe not if you're looking for a good feed! <br/>

Waitstaff were lovely and as accommodating as they could be as they were short staffed.<br/>Food was terrible and very overpriced.<br/>The steak was $38 (which is perfectly reasonable) what's not reasonable though is being told the chef will only cook it medium rare...so to bad if you don't like your meat dripping blood.<br/>The beef ragu was so bland and the pasta was overcooked and soggy, def not worth the $26 paid for it. <br/>The mussels were bland and mushy, the stock was so watery and had barely any flavour at all. <br/>3 meals, a wine and a couple of soda's were $95...don't mind paying money for a great dining experience but this was a huge disappointment.<br/>Will not be returning and wouldn't recommend to anyone else, so many other better options in the area.

I visited the brewery on a rainy Sunday afternoon with three friends. Upon enquiring about a table with the head waitresses, I was abruptly told that there were no tables available, that there was a wait of at least 30m and that we couldn't be accommodated elsewhere in the meantime. After discussing our options outside, my friend went back inside to ask about sitting at the bar till a table was available. He was told that in the intervening 5m a table had become available! As we then patiently waited to be seated we were sharply told by the same waitress to move out of the waiting area, even though there was no where else to wait. The customer service was rude and unwelcoming. I will not be going back nor recommending the brewery. Notably, this was however in contrast to our serving waitress who was pleasant and efficient in her service.

In my experience, breweries and cideries always have that relaxed chilled vibe that make Sunday afternoon drinks just perfect. Coldstream brewery definitely had that vibe but it may have leaked into service a bit much. Wait staff were all lovely, don't get me wrong, but drink orders were forgotten or incorrect sizes were brought out and the food had a very long wait. In their defense we were a big group, but it was a bit extensive considering there isn't a large amount of menu options. What I did have was enjoyable, I could eat the calabrese salad any day of the week and everyone seemed really happy with their drinks. I just happened to abstain for this occasion. This could be a pit stop again for a drink and some well seasoned chips and dips rather than a meal.

Had previously called and asked if we are able to book a table they advised they were booked out but we could come for drinks, when we arrived the girl couldn't have been more rude. A warm welcome. Extensive selection of local small winemakers wine by the glass & bottle, a great way to sample some quality drops as I believe some or most do not have a cellar door. A nice dark beer was tried by my travelling partner. Its the sort of place you can sit inside with the fire, or outside in the sun on a long table. Really enjoyed our mushroom pizzas. We arrived late in the day also, around 3pm, and the kitchen had just closed - well almost - they were very accommodating and we were able to order. A few other groups rolled in after us and were able to all order late lunches too. The guy behind the bar was very knowledgeable about the small local wines and their makers, a really great guy. A really nice chilled out way to spend a couple of hours in the winter sun.

Our visit kicked off a little wobbly w our booking not being found on either their paper or iPad systems so after a bit of faffing we were shown to a table on which we expected to share w others. Thankfully the large group of loud 20-somethings we were to share w decided to dine outside in the cold. The brewery was inviting w an open fire and wood furniture plus oversized cushions and a long bar, all in keeping w a beer oriented place. We kicked off w a couple of beer tasting paddles and a red wine for our driver, and all 3 of us were happy. The beers and ciders had enough variety to please the 2 beer drinkers and provide subject matter for much discussion and debate. With a reasonable menu choice we were happy w the barramundi, a lamb pizza, and some deliciously double fried chips. The pizza was fresh & tasty but could have benefited from a little more lamb. The fish apparently was great. As our kick off for an afternoon of wine & gin tasting we were v happy w this start. The staff were friendly if s little inefficient and the ambience was up beat and warm.

Was taken to this venue for the Mothers Day special menu. The meal was fantastic. Started with pate, salt pepper squid and mushroom aranacinis. That was followed by slow roasted shoulder lamb, and veggies. Absolutely melted in your mouth. Then came dessert. It was to die for. Lemon tart and chocolate fondant. Service was spot on. A great night had by all. Highly recommend.

Pretty disappointed... We went on a quiet night and it took along time before we were acknowledged by staff. Had the charcuterie board which was lovely. Unfortunately my pizza was nothing special, very light on with the toppings and a soggy base. The pie and chips were also nothing special. Great drinks though!

I have had mixed experiences at this place.<br/>The beer is good. So is the cider. My young son still remembers the syrupy raspberry he had there a few years back! So do I as he was hyper for the rest of the day!<br/>So, the core consumables are very good.<br/>Most recently however, I stopped by for a mid afternoon beer and sat at the bar. There were 4 waitresses....not too busy. A customer in a place like this expects service and to not be ignored. It's simply not good enough to call for service after a number of minutes sitting at an empty bar watching waitresses who weren't terribly busy. <br/>9 for beer, 9 for cider, 1 for service.

So glad I found this amazing place! I heard that they have amazing beers but man, their food was also incredible. I had the best salt and pepper squid here!!! It's so unique how they cook it and it's bloody tasty. Their pizza also ah-may-zinggg!!! I wish this place is not so far from where I live. But yea, definitely will come back.

Attended restaurant with group of 8 people for my birthday. Always frustrating when you go out in a group & everyone is dissatisfied. We were only table bar one other, waitress looked like we ruined her night by having to work. We constantly had to get up to find her for services. Bar & food. She could not be @&$?'d!! Food was so average it was sad, food came out so slowly, it was forever before entire table was eating. Won't visit again, & this wasn't the first visit. Very mediocre food, pricey, & terrible service. Obviously they won't to focus on the cider/beer side of things.

Great place, they have wonderful and friendly staff and are always happy to help. Their cider is pretty amazing and priced well. The food is great value. Definitely worth checking out!

Good staff, good environment with the open fire, good food. They warned us the kitchen was behind before we ordered as we had two kids, went and checked and no delay. They asked if we wanted the kids meals early, did all the right things. Definitely come again

Dawn & Ben. Our Coldstream friends raved about this place and they booked a table for 5 of us on Saturday 18th April. It was extremely busy so we didn't mind waiting for our table. Bar staff were friendly enough and the beer was nice - nothing to rave about - nice.<br/>The menu had a great variety and it didn't take us long to make our selection., The prices were what I'd call in between average and pricey. We ordered 3 gourmet pizzas, a pasta dish and a salmon dish. We had to get the attention of wait staff to place our order. The waiter took our order without writing it down which made us nervous! <br/>An hour went by and we joked they were just trying to get us to drink more. This was a 7:30 sitting, the restaurant area was full but only a few meals were coming out of the kitchen. We asked a wait staff if everything was okay. Within the next half hour our meals arrived. The pasta was mainly that - pasta. The Italian Sausage pizza was a small to medium base, sauce, bok choy leaves with about 2 tbsp of what looked like mince spread sparsely on the top. It looked horrid but it did taste sensational. That was a $22 pizza. We questioned the wait staff and she defended the chef - something on the lines of "It's his decision". The salmon dish was a small plate for $30 mark but spectacular. It was only when we questioned why did one Carnivore pizza seem to have double the amount of topping compared to the other that we got the sympathy of two delicious free desserts. My advice is to stay away until there are more wait staff and there is more efficiency and consistency from the kitchen.

More staff needed, had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to order drinks and then had to ask where they were. Very disappointed not very friendly.

Shocking service. Had booked a table of about 10 people, everybody ate except for five of us who waited one and a half hours for our meals-which never came. Continuously got told that meals were coming or they were "being made"...with no apologies! <br/>Ended up leaving and got our money back with no explanation as to why we had been waiting and received a very poor apology from the manager. So so so disappointed cause the food actually looked nice. Will never come back, and not surprised when I read other reviews similar to this!

Rude staff. Pretty unimpressed by our recent visit here. It was our first stop for the day, but thankfully everywhere else we stopped was MUCH more inviting and pleasant. <br/><br/>We got there before midday, around somewhere between 11- 11:30am. The four of us ordered our drinks at the bar and went to sit at one of the tables. The place was pretty empty, and there was no Reserved sign on this one. As soon as we sat down, one of the guys came over and said we couldn't sit there as they had "a bunch" of bookings coming later. We were only staying for one drink, but that didn't matter. We starting going over to another table, but got warned off that one too. <br/><br/>Asked where we could sit? "Probably just the bar. Or outside in the sun," he said nonchalantly and walked away. I'm not sure if he was trying to be funny. It was overcast. And the nicer outside part around the side was full, leaving only the outside part directly onto the highway/carpark (not that nice). We walked out there anyway, but what do you know, the tables all had reserved signs on them. Inside again to stand awkwardly near the bar while the guy ignored us and hit on one of the female bar-tenders. <br/><br/>We skulled our drinks and left.... the place was still empty, although some more tables had Reserved signs (although I noticed, not our original table.) <br/><br/>Never going there again, and will be telling others to steer clear.

Have given this place a few chances but will not return after the last visit. Boring menu, overpriced & average food, rude uninterested staff and as always, long wait for service and food (even when not busy). No table service to outside tables (I will never understand places that do this). Although a somewhat small gripe, it was the last straw for us when we paid $25+ each for a main at lunch time and was told we have to pay $2 extra each if we wanted a bit of sauce with our chips!!! A joke. Would not recommend this place to anyone...

Go for the parma definately not the pizzas. Wow the pizzas here are so bad. Terrible frozen base, and a scarce amount of toppings. Such a ridiculous rip off.<br/><br/>However, my partner had the parma which he rated, so perhaps just stay away from the pizzas.<br/><br/>The beers are great here, and the vibe was quite good. An easy stop off if heading through Coldstream, very fast service.

Overpriced and ordinary food. Paid $14 for platter of supposedly home made dips. Got dried/dead bread drizzled in a bit of oil and salt flakes; and 3 tiny bowls. One with olive oil (wow), one with two cubes if feta (wow again), and the third with a dollop of homus! Could've done better from leftovers in my own fridge. Voiced my disappointment to waitress politely with nil outcome

Can't fault them. <br/>When we chose to go to Coldstream Brewery we knew the menu was limited - hey, it's a brewery, not a restaurant - but we didn't realise it was *so* limited. Oh well...<br/>For entree we ordered a trio of dips. Then we waited, and waited, and waited......<br/>Over thirty five minutes later we get our dips. The feta was FANTASTIC, the crispbread was great, humus was nice but I don't really consider olive oil a dip, when I'm ordering a trio of dips. Maybe that's just me.<br/>Entree (and cutlery) were cleared after a good wait, then mains were delivered. We had to ask for replacement cutlery, which was a bit embarrassing. The Chicken Parmigiana was lovely - not overly greasy, with a nice balance of chips and salad. But the Fettuccine Marinara was disappointing. The pasta was hard, not al dente and some of the calamari was rubbery. However the pesto and other marinara ingredients were awesome. <br/>After we clearly finished eating we waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually our table was cleared and we ordered dessert. Thirty minutes later one of the waiters apologises for the delay and said we would get dessert in a minute or two. Twenty five minutes after that, still no desserts so we left. AND they still billed for the dessert, but refunded when we complained. <br/>Maybe it was a bad night, but I would have expected better

Good atmosphere inside.. Quite enjoy this brewery. Nice atmosphere inside not outside though. Typical pub type environment not restaurant as some others reviewing seem to be expecting. No big deal just means you go to the bar to order and pay etc. Food was quite good and their beers are quite fair.

Horrible Service. The restaurant was full, and they had a function on (Sat 28/6) and only 3 waitstaff. They did their best, but were run off their feet. We couldn't get our bill, so eventually went up to the bar to pay. Got in line behind several other patrons who were all complaining about the service. Food was average, (not much variety on the menu unless you wanted pizza) no more than that. Not worth the trip, the long wait between courses & drinks orders, or the money. Very disappointing!! What a shame, this used to be a great place.

Nosedive.... Have been to the brewery multiple times in the past few years and every time was fantastic. Unfortunately our visit today was a disaster. The menu is a shadow of its former self, the delicious gourmet selection has been replaced with pedestrian cuisine. Our food order arrived at our table cold and incomplete after an hour wait. We ordered onion rings but as our mains were being placed in front of us we were told that they were waiting for the batter for the onion rings to be made but asked if we wanted extra chips, even though all our meals had chips... We declined the extra chips but they brought them out anyway and comp'd us for them. This is a massive disappointment as it was a local favorite for us. Won't be going back and suggest you don't bpther either.

Went to the Coldtream brewery today for lunch and it was delicious. I had the chicken pizza and my boyfriend had carnivore (meat lovers) pizza. Both tasted great! The service was a little slow (45min wait for pizza) but it was busy and they had minimal staff on. Having said that, the staff did the best they could. Will definitely be back!

I have been here several times now and have always enjoyed it, unfortunately the service and quality is slowly going down hill we experienced by far the worst service I have experienced in a long time to the point no body would take our orders at one stage no one was even behind the bar for over 5 mins and we were then walked past 6 times by staff members who were intentionally not making eye contact and keeping there heads down so the didn't have to serve us, to make things worse it wasn't even busy, the beer was great and the food was standard ok pub bistro stuff which is fine but I hope the service side of things get sorted ASAP.

Disappointed. After having a lovely experience through the yarra valley on a winery tour, we thought it would be nice to finish up the day at coldstream brewery. <br/>After numerous times trying to contact and confirm a booking specifically for an outside table, we finally received confirmation after 3 days. Only apon arrival we found out not reservation was not booked and requested to speak to the manager, Josh. Josh was extremely rude and quite frankly gave us no time and day. <br/>Really disappointed and, being a frequent customer after this experience we will not be returning due to poor customer service.

Pub Standards at Restaurant Prices. We were happy with the food and drink we had at Coldstream Brewery. It was standard 'pub fare' and everything came out relativity fast and fresh. The waitress was friendly and attentive too. I would say everything here is overpriced for the standard though, which could explain all the negative reviews.<br/><br/>$25 for the pie was a bit steep, given it was basically beef stew with a sheet of pastry on top. Steak was listed at a restaurant level of pricing, but it was no impressive cut of meat nor an impressive cooking treatment served up either.<br/><br/>Wasn't disappointed... but I won't go recommending it.

We waited for almost two hours for our meals that seemed rushed and forgotten about. My partners steak was over cooked when he asked for rare- medium. My chicken burger wasn't anything special. The waiter apologized for the delay and offered us a round of drinks but this place isn't worth the time or the money. Find another place to eat.. Drinking wise - beer is great.

Went today for a booked lunch with veg mum. Previous visits great but unimpressed with first service this time. Had to go to bar to get a cider and stepped outside to puff-came back and menus gone! Waited 20 mins for attention and different waitress great- brought back menus,got the wine and took our order. Food came quickly and was lovely but dessert of raspberry spring rolls tasted of fish and chips! Still recommend but service depends on staff.

A nice afternoon. Before I tell you about the place I will state IF YOU DONT HAVE A BOOKING ESPECIALY FOR THE WEEKEND YOUR CHANCES OF A TABLE ARE SLIMISH. If you want to have a relaxing sample of some beers or the best cider there is, come during the week or evenings this place is a sleeping giant the food is awsome yes it is at restrant prices but you get what you pay for. <br/>The parma is awsome and the new menu of 3 choises of steks plus several sauces and sides combined is so good. <br/>The staff are well manned but they have limitations of the space they work in, sometimes it is just a full house they do their best.

Went here on the weekend with a large group for tastings and lunch.<br/>The meals were pre-ordered (an alternate meal of chicken or steak)but not everyone got their meal, after being asked what they would like the waitress returned with the wrong meal. Our guest was abused by the waiter and left without a meal.<br/>1 drink per person was also to be included but they did not honour their own quotation.<br/>BEWARE on Sunday's they charge more for the beer.

Rude staff and bad food!! I am so unhappy with this place so much so, that I am writing this whilst I'm still here. As soon as we walked in we were ignored and finally after asking a few times were seated. The food was horrible for the price. My $20 pizza was a frozen base and had absolutely no taste. The only flavour came from the salt and pepper we requested. My partners Parma was also tasteless with chips and salad from a packet. Although the brand beer is nice ( charging $6.20 a pot) I would never recommend this place to anyone, even my biggest rival.

The service from the beginning was great. The staff were attentive and not in your face all the time. I ordered a pint of cider and it was pretty bloody good. Light colour and full of flavour.<br/>Our food was also great. The lamb was amazing and the buffalo wings were really tasty. Past reviewers were mentioning small serves, but our dishes were just right. They also mention the high prices, which is true. But the quality of the meals was definitely worth the price. I would recommend this place to all my friends. A fantastic stop when passing through.

McCain Pizza. Had a friends birthday party here and the food was nothing to write home about. The pizzas we had were not unlike those you buy in the supermarket freezer. I would expect a $25 pizza to have some decent ingredients or be woodfired, not tomato sauce from a jar on a crappy base with a couple of strips of don ham. Charging heaps does not make your food gourmet.

Underwhelming. Prices suggest premium quality. Food is not. Parma wasn't terrible, although for $28 it was disappointing. Napoli pasta for $24 was bitterly disappointing... bland sauce seemed like it was just heated tomatoes with no herbs or even salt or pepper.

Nice little place. We went here with some friends a couple of months ago. They are locals and really like the place. Unluckily we picked a busy night when they had overbooked a function. The staff were still very pleasant even though they were run off their feet. It did take a long time to order and we had to ask if our meals were coming several times and as it turns out our order had been lost. The staff apologized and we understood as they were so busy.<br/>When the food came I wish I had ordered the main size calamari instead of the entree (which is usually enough for me) not because of the size but because it was so nice, probably one of the best calamari dishes I've had in a long time. My husband got the Parmagiana and loved it. Made the way it should be, a nice fat fillet, crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. Our friends had a pizza which also looked nice.<br/>I meant to grab a 6pack of their cider to take home but forgot, so what a shame looks like I will have to return.

By far the most dissapointing thing was paying $10 for a brewery tour that consisted of us all standing in one small room for less than ten minutes listening to the guy read from a piece of paper and not being able to answer any of our questions. Our group had been to another brewery earlier in the day and the tour was much much better and didn't cost a cent.

Mixed Thoughts. Went for a Sunday lunch. Wouldn't have hurt the waitress to smile, so not very welcoming. Pizza's are nice enough but grossly over priced at $25 ea! <br/>Ordered a sampling set of their brews which was a great idea and way of doing it but I only came across it because I saw another table having it but could not see it on the drinks menu to save myself. <br/>There is no view so you look at the main road which doesn't make for a nice relaxing lunch if you are on a day trip.<br/>Overall, good to cross off the list but unless I lived in the area I probably wouldn't frequent.

I was at the brewery today with a group of 7 people. The experience was definitely below satisfactory. The saga began with the waitress giving us the wrong specials of the day which were not made apparent until the wrong dishes were brought out. Secondly, the food was not brought out together which meant some meals were finished when others had to wait an extra half hour to receive their meals. Thirdly, one member ordered a gluten free pizza due to allergies, when the pizza was brought out she was told it was the gluten free pizza so she ate it. It was only made apparent that it was not gluten free when the gluten free pizza was given to someone else. The saga ended in 3 people missing out on their meals and one celiac feeling really unwell and the staff refused to take any responsibility. We will definitely not be returning.

GF Friendly? Hungry after a day of wine tasting we stumbled upon this brew pub. Beers were quite good. Nothing sensational... Food was average at best. $20 for a pizza that was 6inches in diameter. After tasting found it was gf and our friend who needs gf are the non gf pizza... the whole ordeal was not professional as the manager who was eating the sent back pizza told us no refunds. Wont be going back again... shame really

The beer was the highlight. It was a fun night out at the brewery, and the beer was gorgeous. The food wasn't really anything special, which was a shame. <br/><br/>Would go back, not on an empty stomach, and 'snack' while enjoying the beer on a hot day.

Slow service, overpriced food.. Ten of us went for my sister's birthday recently on a week night, with no more than 20 people in the whole restaurant. It took 2 hours to get mains, multiple attempts to flag down one of the two serving staff for addional drinks/clear empty glasses. The quality of the food was quite poor for the prices charged. The cider on tap was also 'off' (to their credit the staff did react really quickly when we pointed out the fact it tasted very wrong). We were really diappointed and wont be going back.

We visited Colstream Brewery today. I had read reviews so avoided main meals. We enjoyed 2 fantastic pizzas, service was prompt & polite. Would visit again.

When brewery owner Nick Strong actually contacted this here humblr blog via our contact form (like whut?! people use our contact form? awesome!) to offer us free Coldstream cider because we didn’t have many cider reviews on the blog, I replied and said that Tristan and I would be happy to visit but would pay our own way, sample the brewery’s wares and report accordingly. This occurred last Sunday.

Lazy, uncreative food. I recently went to Coldstream brewery and what a disappointment it was.<br/><br/>Some restaurants you can forgive because at least they tried.<br/><br/>Firstly, the cider here is excellent and always will be. Some of the best I have had. Unfortunately, cider does not a good restaurant make.<br/><br/>Secondly, Coldstream has fairly mediocre beer compared to most craft brewers and this hasn't changed.<br/><br/>The food is what has inspired me to come here. It was just lazy, insipid stuff. The entire impression was that they just simply don't care about their food or if you like it.<br/><br/>The menu was your pretty typical pub grub, which is ok if they do it well and are generous on the portion sizes.<br/><br/>It's like Olympic diving - when the diver goes for something a bit lower in difficulty you expect them to absolutely nail it if youre going to give them points.<br/><br/>This wasn't even close. If you pay $24 for a parma you want more than a small handful of chips alongside. Stingy serving sizes were just the start. <br/><br/>My porterhouse came out with a side of tired mashed-potato topped by limp broccoli. I was the second meal served and by that time we realised we were in trouble. <br/><br/>Unfortunately not one of the meals served redeemed the workers in the kitchen. No pride in presentation or quality was evident anywhere.<br/><br/>As for the desserts, choc mousse with berry compote was terrible.<br/><br/>The honey, walnut and something spring rolls were quite nice though, however once again if you're charging $14 for a dessert at what really is just a brewpub, you NEED to nail it or at least give us heaps of it. Coldstream did neither.<br/><br/>Service-wise, the place was ok. No complaints about that!<br/><br/>Never going to eat here again.

Revolting.... What an unpleasant experience the Coldstream Brewery was.<br/>I ordered the "flathead tails" which were NOT flathead, It was old, frozen flake at best. It tasted like Mc Cains fish fingers, except they are better quality!<br/><br/>The salad was straight from a packet with a watery balsamic splashed over.<br/>Simlpy revolting. The waitress didnt enquire why I had only taken 2 bites out of my fish like fried stuff and our wine arrived after 3 prompts after the meal arrived.<br/>This place should be avoided at all costs and just head to the frozen section of your local supermarket for a better feed.

Look, not a bad place to go, very popular with the locals & you can do worse in the area. Wouldn't be my first choice.

I've been here a couple of times and each time I've been underwhelmed. Some specifics: steer clear of the duck (there's not the talent in the kitchen for this difficult meat), the mushroom or potato pizza, the 'beer battered' chips, any fish 'fillet' (it seems the kitchen hasn't the time to pin bone). The service too has been ordinary, unnatentive and slow...a child we dined with waited 40 minutes for a lemonade. However there are positives: the beer and cider is always good, the small plates have always been excellent. If you're up for a beer and a bar snack then look no further, if you're up for a quality meal there are so many better options in the valley.

Well worth the drive. After the long drive out to Coldstream, I didn't know what to expect and the outside appearance had me hesitant. <br/>However once we entered and greeted by exceptionally polite staff, a young gentleman and lady, who sat us close to the open fire on a cold winter's Wednesday, I began to have high hopes.<br/>I certainly was not let down, we chose to order the range of shared meals to share between the four of us, the duck, ribs and the special for the day whitebait were clear standouts. Upon ordering I was excepting traditional, rather hard to eat and messy ribs, usually produced from a pub. However all of the dishes were presented beautifully and very easy and simple to eat, leaving no mess, I also certainly did not leave any bit behind.<br/>Just to accompany the shared meals we ordered the smoked bacon pizza, I'm generally not a fan of pineapple on pizza, but on this occasion the pineapple was so fresh and sweet it complimented the smoked bacon perfectly.<br/>Overall along with the Coldstream beer that is on tap, this is an excellent hidden treat, that is very reasonable in price and well worth the drive!

Head for the Hills. This post is partially about the Coldstream Brewery, and partly about my family. A few weeks ago, my mother, her husband and I enjoyed a beautiful Saturday lunch out at Coldstream, in the gorgeous Yarra Valley, and we were there for a very special reason.<br/><br/>My littlest brother (who is twice the size of me) had recently started at Coldstream as their apprentice chef. Least of all to say, I'm pretty darn proud of the kid. The kid who used to sit in front of the oven waiting for dinner to cook, the kid who would walk 10 paces behind the rest of my family because he was too busy eating to walk faster, and the only person in my family other than me who knows what elBulli is.<br/><br/>My littlest brother has had a bit of a rough ride, like me he took a little longer than everyone else to decide what to do with himself for a living. While we all knew he would be a chef, it took him a little longer to work it out. Walking into his restaurant and seeing him looking so tall and proud in his chef whites, frizzy hair escaping out from under his little white cap, big smile wrapped across his face, I can honestly say I have never been so proud of a member of my family before.<br/><br/>Our waitress Wendy seemed to belong in that restaurant as much as my brother, there was such a homely feel to the place and exposed wooden beams, raw brickwork and a big open fire added to the welcoming country atmosphere. The service was not text book perfect, but it was warm, friendly and inviting, and truth be told almost outshone the food in its excellence. Although I am sure, we were, as the chef's family, paid extra special attention to.<br/><br/>Most of the menu was on the daily specials blackboard, and otherwise split up into a style that is gaining in popularity, small and large share plates. None in our party could go past an entrée of lemongrass broth with scallop and crab dumplings (10), which was superb in its simplicity, and potentially made a significant contribution to lessening my hangover, for which I was most grateful.<br/><br/>Now, the kid is responsible for the pizza section, so we were of course obliged to order at least one. Pictured left is the mushroom and tallegio pizza (16.50) alongside a dish my mother ordered, which I didn't pay any attention to, so therefore know nothing about. Fish cakes of some description spring to mind, however I am likely wrong.<br/><br/>For my main I ordered pan seared king fish on celeriac puree with Sicilian salsa (27), mostly because I was desperate to know what makes a salsa Sicilian (sultanas, capers, parsley and tiny globe tomatoes apparently). The sweetness of the salsa was a perfect fit to the natural sweetness of the fish, and I was happy with my choice.<br/><br/>Although I am unbelievably biased towards this venue for obvious reason, it was not without fault, as very few restaurants are. The coffee was of a low quality, a table near us remained uncleared for the entire time we were there, and Mum's desert arrived without a spoon. But in the grand scheme of things, restaurants like this are far between in regional areas, and I am grateful to have options for great locally sourced food, at low prices, so far away from the city.<br/><br/><br/>Being named "Brewery" is a pretty good indication there is a bit of beer about (although at the time the thought of any more beer made my stomach turn). The restaurant extends to a cellar door of sorts, with bar snacks available through the day, as well as tastings of the hand-crafted beers and tours of the on-site brewery by arrangement.<br/><br/>There are regular special events on offer, with a Fine Swine and Wine dinner scheduled for the 15 July - with three courses of pork themed meals and matched wine for $50 - that would be hard to go past if I lived at least in the same state.<br/><br/>Coldstream Hills Brewery is run by mates, and it feels that way. Like four blokes got together over a few beers and said "hey, wouldn't it be really awesome to own a brewery". And that's exactly what happened. What a cracking idea boys. And look after my brother...

Small but well thought out menu. .<br/>Pro's:<br/>- Good selection of locally brewed beers<br/>- Modest menu, but what they do have is good<br/>- Nice selection of desserts<br/>- Good ambiance<br/><br/>Con's:<br/>- A ways to travel for a beer<br/>- Inner city prices for an outer-suburb joint
