Sugar Shack Donuts & Coffee

This is a great little local place that makes fresh, unique donuts while also offering unique coffee and tea options. When available, I have heard stories of staff allowing customers to suggest donut ideas, IE: almond joy donut. They recently even had Publix chicken tenders donuts. If that isn't enough to get you to check them out, I don't know what would.

Delicious donuts! Donuts might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re thinking of gourmet sweets, but I’m here to tell you that Sugar Shack is out to change that! I cannot say enough about how good sugar shack is. THE best doughnuts you will ever have. They're chewy, tender, perfectly sweet and their are so many to choose from for every taste. They also have great coffee. If you're vegan like myself many of the doughnuts are vegan. The doughnut dough and icings are vegan and the toppings depend on wether the doughnuts are vegan. The apple fritter is the best I've ever had and is an absolute favorite as well as the chocolate glazed, white coconut glazed and Oreo.

We stopped here before going to the space center and were so happy we did. By far, the maple bacon was our favorite. We even left and went back in for a couple more they were so good. The dough was so soft and fresh and the maple frosting with the bacon was a perfect combination of sweet and salty. Next time we are in that part of Florida we will be back for more!

I went only twice over two weeks and the barista managed to remember exactly what I had ordered last time. It was nice feeling cared for, after a group of kids had just harassed me over how I present. The coffee is really good too. Best taste in Cocoa. So good, in fact, that when that same group of kids drove by making rude faces at me I managed not to attempt throwing it into their open window. Plus the donuts are almost as big as your head.

I come here at least once a week to get a coffee and a donut. The coffee is really good, and I love that the donut selection always includes new combinations and seasonal/specialty flavors as well as old standbys. On the weekends (Sunday maybe?) they also have apple fritters, which are delicious. There’s nowhere to sit, but it’s half a block from a park, plus there are benches all over Cocoa Village within seconds of walking, so I’ve never found it to be a problem at all, just something to be aware of if it’s your first time and you were thinking you were going to hang out with your laptop; it’s not that kind of place. I took off a star because sometimes the service is...not UNfriendly, but definitely like they don’t care to be super welcoming or helpful or nice. Sometimes! Not all the time! Certainly not enough to make me quit coming. Most of the staff are great, but it just takes a couple of those uncomfortable service experiences to leave a bad impression, you know? Also, follow them on Facebook, or at least check out their page before you go, because most days they have a “do this for a free house donut” thing going. Sometimes it’s something like “buy a coffee and get a free house donut,” sometimes it’s “sing us your favorite Christmas carol” or “draw us a picture of a shark eating a donut” or “wear your NASA gear” or “are you a nurse? Show us your ID for a free house donut!” Okay I have a lot of examples, but it’s worth checking before you go. A “house donut” is one of their simpler donuts, the plain glazed, frosted with sprinkles, powdered sugar, those kind. Basically, go here and eat a donut.
