First visit for lunch. Waited a short time for a table as full when we arrived, very popular at peak times. Nice menu, and the food was quick to arrive. Great value and a lovely atmosphere.

One of the nicest coffees in Chester, ordered a flat white good level of aroma with a rich deeper aftertaste. Staff were lovely and thought has been put into the atmosphere and decor of this coffee shop that can be noticed even into the glassware and cutlery choices.

Called at this lovely little coffee shop whilst killing time before checking in to our accommodation. As we had not had breakfast we decided to share a caramel slice for a little bit of a sugar rush after a night on the town and it just hit the spot. The coffee was 10/10 and so was the hot chocolate according to my husband. We sat outside as it's on a nice little street and watched the world go by.
I always try to support a local place rather than one of the big chains.

Lovely coffee, great atmosphere, clean and tidy, finishes are on point interior wise, WiFi is fast, chilled music on the sonos, what more would you want? Thanks guys!

Lovely coffee shop serving fresh made food and cakes. The French toast was delicious and the spiced apple porridge was delicious. The coffee tasted fantastic too! Definitely recommend a visit 👍🏻😊

Cannot recommend this place enough. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Food was great. In a party of 6 plus dog
everyone had great time including dog as she got dog biscuits. I would personally recommend brioche French toast with berries and creme fraiche. Also catered for gluten free.

Came here in search of decent coffee based on the reviews. It did not disappoint! Beautiful flat white. Even better were the lovely young staff who made a real effort with my small children. Decent coffee is the life blood of tired parents, but so often you feel a bit out of place in trendy coffee shops with the noisy little blighters, but here we were made to feel welcome. Thank you x

This place doesn't need any recommendations, the number of people coming in at lunchtime speaks for itself. I’ve visited Chalk on many a weekday lunchtime and sometimes Saturday morning. First thing to say: it’s lovely and warm in there. The low brick ceiling really keeps the heat in, so it’s the place to be during the energy crisis!
I had a lovely cinnamon swirl pastry, but many people were having a cooked brunch.
I recommend the Dragon Well green tea, which I think is something special. It has a lovely light flavour and is served in lightweight porcelain, which perfectly compliments its delicacy.
The staff are all highly organised: finding tables for people, waiting on, making sure everyone is catered for, and all with a friendly smile.
Everyone is welcome in Chalk, there is quite an age range in there. I met the former owner of my son’s nursery (70 years old); and a woman next to me had a baby with her. There were also two well-behaved dogs!
