We are on holiday and not familiar with where the best place for fish and chips so Googled “best fish and chips in Cheltenham “. Simpson’s came up and so that’s where we went. They weren’t wrong. Really good food and throughly recommend.

The woman who works in the diner is a gem !!! . She is so customer friendly it was unbelievable . Had fish and chips with peas . Pot of tea . They even give you more chips if you want them for free . Free chip top up !!!!

Popped in for dinner on Saturday night. The food was very nice but rather a lot more expensive than I normally pay. The service was very laboured, but the wait was eventually rewarded.

Have had the tofish (tofu fish) and chips a couple of times recently. It's a buzzing place as it's usually busy (obviously a good sign) and the tofish has a similar consistency to fish and a blandly fishy flavour thanks to being coated in a micro thin layer of seaweed before being battered. All it needs is a little extra seasoning. The chips are very tasty and well cooked. For takeaways it's served in branded cardboard boxes inside a branded strong paper bag. Partner had standard fish and chips, which was reported to be good.

Great fish & chips, tasty and not greasy like many places. Takeaway Menu prices on the website are out of date (6/4/23) so beware you'll pay significantly more when you actually drop in and place your order.

The fish was good. Prawns also good. Nice sit down atmosphere. It is a bit of a walk from city center, but perfectly doable in dry weather.

Marked down for service and atmosphere as it was very very quiet and laid back, whereas I wanted just a quick lunch..... Certainly if you're going to have fish and chips it is also going to be rather expensive with a large cod running out at £16 or more.... However, as I had a few grey hairs I went for the OAP special so it was a great deal at £12.50 which included fish and chips, a pot of tea and mushy peas....

The quality of the fish & chips was definitely above average, but not for the price. I was expecting the best as it has won awards, but I was every so slightly disappointed. Still worth trying if you are prepared to pay over £10 for fish and chips?

We had lunch here and had the large cod and the hake. The prices were on the high side (£10+) compared to fish & chips shops in the area but the ambiance and service was good. I liked that they let you have a mix of chips and salad as a side with your fish. They also allow you to have additional refills of chips (unlimited).
The hake and large cod were of a similar size. So I'm not sure if it is worth going for the larger size.
The fish itself tasted very good and fresh. The batter was crisp and everything was served piping hot. We also tried the curry sauce and gravy. I preferred the curry sauce but that is likely a personal preference.
Overall a very good experience but I dropped it 1 star on the basis of higher cost (compared to other local shops) and the large cod portion not being any larger than the regular hake portion.
