Went to try this and the place was packed! I was a little worried because of the grumblings from other patrons about wait times, but despite the craziness my food was ready quickly. The girl behind the counter looked a bit overwhelmed and stressed by how busy it was but she was still cordial and friendly. When I got back, the food was absolutely phenomenal and without any errors across 3 sandwiches - a miracle in the current take out food climate. Do recommend!

I had been hearing about this place for awhile, and really had been putting it off because, given my newfound veganism, I've learned sandwich shops are often not my friend. To my surprise, they did have one item catered to my crowd, the Very Veggie Sandwich, and it was really good, the sauce that came with it absolutely fantastic. The lost star is for the amount. The price is not bad, but you don't get much for that price, so if you are looking to fill yourself up, I would probably turn elsewhere, but otherwise a solid spot.

Best sandwiches maybe ever. And lovely staff. Whole wheat or french bread, pastrami-spiced turkey, cucumbers, sprouts and house dressing. Love in a foil wrapper.

The 1 star is for the Elliewood location's customer service. Food is great service not so much. However the Grady location provided 5 star, great customer service!!!!

Great sandwiches and a local landmark on the UVA corner. Good options for customization.

Excellent ingredients all around so tons of choices for sandwiches. House dressing is delicious, also recommend grabbing some of that to go with lots of bread ends.

This was one of my favorite lunch spots when I lived in Cville20 years ago, and when I moved back last year I was delighted to discover that the sandwiches were just as good as I remember. Since the pandemic restrictions eased I've been stopping in there about once a week. Until two days ago.
I had been slammed at work all morning and into the afternoon, but I was able to slip in just 10 or 15 minutes before close to grab my usual. I got it back to my office and ate the first half, and when I picked up the second half I found underneath it tucked in the wrapping a wadded up pair of used latex gloves.
I've been trying to figure out a plausible way this could have happened by accident, but I'm at a loss. I think it must just be somebody's idea of a practical joke. Needless to say, the experience has killed my enthusiasm for the place.
On some level it's not fair to hold the shop responsible for the actions of just one person, so I won't say other people shouldn't go there, but if you do, consider opening your sandwich before you walk out the door and giving it a thorough inspection, at least until they identify the prankster in their kitchen.
