Papi Queso

Papi Queso is always great - I’ve never had a bad meal and truly appreciate the consistency. I sit at the tables outside when I visit Optimist but since it was cold and I was by myself I sat at the Papi Queso counter today. Everyone working was great but I wanted to give a shoutout to Amy who was extremely attentive, friendly, and working hard to keep the orders moving along during the lunch rush. They were experiencing problems with their online ordering system and she kept her cool/stayed positive while navigating the problem and dealing with customers whose orders were never received due to the system error. Can’t wait to come back. :)

While exploring Optimist Hall we were told by another vendor to fry the Froze from here! We were soooo glad that we did. It was cold, refreshing, and definitely had a heavy pour. We plan to go back to try some of the food, but definitely recommend getting the Froze. Not to mention the customer service was nothing like we have ever experienced. She was soo nice, attentive, and made great recommendations for food when we return.

I was wanting something that was not typically something I would eat, and Papi Queso had a variety of grilled cheeses that piqued my interest. I ended up choosing the Pig Mac, which has pulled pork and mac & cheese. The sandwich was really good, and it had a unique flavor to it that I enjoyed. The person taking our order was super nice, and coming here was a pleasant experience all around.

Located inside of Optimist Hall, serving different takes on grilled cheese. I put a note in my phone to try Papi Queso if I was in Charlotte, and I’m glad I did. I split the Pig Mac, Mushroom Gruyère, and Garlic Parmesan Tots with some friends. Everything was great, but the standout was the Mushroom Gruyère. I’m a mushroom lover and this blew my mind. Paired with the truffle sauce, I was on cloud 9. I’ll come back and try other sandwiches , but will struggle (and likely fail) not to get this one again.

Papi Queso is a Charlotte staple. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it before. The Pig Mac is my go to favorite, but I forced myself to try something new on my last visit. I got the Texas Cheesesteak which was very good. I can't say I liked it more than the Pig Mac, but you really can't go wrong with any sandwich here. I also tried my friend's cheese curds which were way too salty for my liking. If you're at Optimist Hall, you can't go wrong with grilled cheese from here.

I had a mommy baby date with my daughter here. I guess the owner was behind the bar. Such an awesome personality. The whole staff was amazing. And the food was so good for just being a sandwich shop. I stick by forever statement. Amazing service makes great food taste amazing (dont steal my quote!!😜)
