Hands-down the best cake shop in Cambridge. Your biggest problem will be deciding what to have, as everything looks (and is!) delicious. But if I had to choose one thing, it would be the carrot and orange cake - it's to die for.

This place never fails to deliver a decent cuppa & a delicious cake. The selection is really impressive from granola style bars to full-on slabs of home-made sponges, brownies and tarts. They offer wheat-free cakes; we had Rosemary, Lemon & Olive Oil. The cafe seating area is small but on a sunny day there is more space in their garden.

I found myself a week out from a baby shower suddenly without a cake and I was extremely stressed. I found Tom's Cakes through a quick Google search and I am so glad that I did! The day of, a few things went wrong, and I was late to pick up. The staff were still very kind to me and the cake was ready to go. IT WAS A HIT! Such a delicious cake. Every person at the party had a slice and some went back for seconds. The presentation, taste, flavor, and thought that went into the cake were all above and beyond. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Best Victorian sponge ever!! I had to pace myself to enjoy every single bite of it. Date slice was great too and can’t wait to go back to try other cakes. Friendly interior and very chilled atmosphere. A must visit!

I would not recommend visiting Tom's Cakes during the present crisis. The cakes are good, but the space is small so the queuing system is cumbersome. No table service at all is offered so you have to wait around for food to be heated. My tea was badly made (milk and teabags added at the same time, teabags left in) but, more importantly, everything is being served on disposables with no recycling facility. Not easy to use, not ecological, not welcoming -- not a practical choice at present. The staff were doing their best but there were not enough of them to account for the busy cafe and the impractical workflow. I feel for them.

My best friend bought me a ginger cake from Tom's Cakes for my birthday as a surprise, and I was absolutely blown away by the flavour. I'm not a fan of sweet cakes, and this was perfect. Beautifully sticky and moist, with amazingly warm and spicy ginger and just the right amount of buttercream.
Once lockdown is over, I may go and buy myself another, birthday or not!
