Reflections

Breakfast buffet is really average. Restaurant is not large enough for the number of guests so big queues to get in, big queues to get food, long wait for barrista ordered coffee. Tables aren't cleaned properly between sittings, just wiped over with a dirty cloth. No Covid precautions at all. "Sanitisation station" at the door has been empty two days in a row. Social distancing is totally impossible. We have decided to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay even though breakfast is included in our package.

It was my daughter's 9th birthday. We were staying our first of 4 nights at the Oaks Resort. Hoping to have some time away after a horrific last half of the year filled with unimaginable loss. My daughter ordered chicken nuggets, which were overcooked, and seemed to be cooked in oil which had not been changed for months The fact that this food was inadequate was made worse by her not receiving her food until 10minutes after everyone else at our table (4 people in total), which only occurred because I walked up to the counter and asked where her food was. I had chicken korma, which was overpriced, with papadams which were stale, and potentially from the night before. My partner had the pork belly and veges, which was extremely overpriced for the quality and quantity.

It is lovely and relaxing resorts. Kids are having so much fun. The bar by the poolside is plus. Happy hours from 4pm to 5pm. Tony, the restaurant manager is very friendly and helpful. I can't get enough of the Expresso martini. Thanks again Tony, from the lady who received martini in the plastic cup, then you made the next one in the martini glass. It was a great service.

TLDR: cheap buffet that exceeds expectations. We've just checked into the Oaks Resort, we're tired and not keen on travelling too far for dinner or cooking. So the on-site restaurant it is. Buffet? Sure, why not. Keep our expectations low... But wow! The thing about a buffet is that there is usually about a third to half the dishes you try only once and not again. This buffets selection is limited, keeping the price ($28/person) low, but each dish is superb. This evening the selection included slow braised beef ribs, creamy white wine seafood pasta, herb crumed snapper fillets with lime aioli, pork scallops with garlic and white wine sauce... And all of it was great! Well done, we'll be back!

Staff are really lovely and friendly, unfortunately the only good thing about this place. Food is honestly awful. We tried a variety of dishes due to having credit we could only spend at reflections. The burgers were so greasy, the bun was saturated, the salads were bland, pizzas were ok just frozen standard pizzas. I wouldn't recommend eating here, definitely go else where unless you want chips!!
