I love dropping by this place. First, Thundercloud, in my opinion, is the bust sub shop in Austin. I always found the service to be prompt and courteous along with a great atmosphere of a small sandwich shop. It's one of my favorite treats.

Thundercloud Subs is a great place to get tasty healthy from a locally owned business. You can get hot subs, cold subs, soups and even smoothies. They sometimes have mac and cheese as welll as chili. Their broccoli cheese soup is really great especially in the colder weather. You can order online now, but you'll need to call to see what soups are available.

Thundercloud subs are always delicious, and I love supporting this local Austin shop. However, I must mention the lack of cleanliness at the Slaughter location. There were so many flies! A couple even landed on me as I was waiting for my sandwich. The countertop was also pretty greasy and a lot of crumbs and bits of food. I've not seen this at any other locations, so I really hope they get on top of this issue.

The subs and salads are very good, and they have a wide variety of options. The store is spacious and there is a good amount of booth seating. The brownies are also quite tasty.
That said, I was a little disappointed by the general cleanliness—there were crumbs and pieces of salad on numerous booth seats and one of the employees wiped off a knife covered in mayonnaise and mustard on their apron before cutting my friend’s chicken for their salad.
All in all, this place is worth going to, but I hope they clean up their general hygienic practices and sweep/clean the seating area a bit more consistently.

This is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. It reminds me of a real New York corner store sandwich. I got the Austin Club which is chicken, bacon and avocado and I added veggies and salt pepper oil vinegar, mayo. 10/10. The price is right for $8 as well. I honestly wish they warmed up the sandwiches because I don't like cold sandwiches, but this was delicious enough that I didn't mind.

This is the thundercloud location that we frequent most often.
They're usually pretty fast, efficient, and friendly when we go.
I have no complaints about the actual sandwich itself. They're delicious and I recommend the office favorite!
Been trying to eat less carbs, so I've been choosing to eat their salads. I will say that if you go later on in the day they don't have any salads left. This has happened to me at least twice. It's a bummer but what can you do?
The kids are also huge fans and often ask to go here if we're having a quick lunch or dinner out of the house.
