Carmen's

Being Floridian I, of course, have always been surrounded by Latin food culture, but never have I experienced a Latin ice cream parlor and this spot did not disappoint!! As a foodie and all-things-sweets lover🍨🍮🧁🍦♥️, I will say Carmen's is TOP NOTCH for a mom & pop ice cream shop! I stumbled on Carmen's while visiting from out of the area and all I can say is....I am now looking for a shop like Carmen's in my own area. The shop owner/counter server was very friendly, patient, and allowed me to try multiple flavors that were new to me. Her hospitable and welcoming attitude was very much appreciated as I was just so overwhelmed and excited by all of the flavors I had never seen before....sweet corn, mamey, star fruit, lime, passion fruit, etc. While I have had some of these tropical foods before, others I did not, and certainly not in ice cream form. I ended up getting the Mangonada.🥭 Traditionally they make it with the mango ice cream, but I switched it up with starfruit and coconut ice creams with the mango fruit on top. Where else do you get FRESH mango on your ice cream?! It's a day after and my mind is still WOWed. I would be tempted to drive out of my way just to stop at Carmen's again. The only disappointment I have is that I was not able to try other flavors and the decadent popsicles that just look amazing!!!

This was our first visit to this hidden gem and what wonderful flavors unique to traditional ice cream shops. They make all of the ice creams and popsicles or bars in house. Some of the unique flavors of ice cream are avocado, spicy pineapple, spicy mango and sweet corn. They also have a wide selection of typical flavors of ice cream and sorbets to choose from like coffee, chocolate, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, strawberry sorbet etc. the cafe is fairly small with 3 tables and 2 high tables. Prices are nice with one scoop fir$2.35, 2 scoops for $4.25, shakes $4.99 and popsicles are $2.35 - $2.85. Carmen’s is located next door to the movie theater and I know we will be coming back to enjoy more of these wonderful flavors and popsicles. Tonight we ordered a strawberry ice cream popsicle covered in chocolate and rolled in peanuts, a scoop of Strawberry Sorbet and a scoop of Avocado ice cream and a cup with a scoop of coffee and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The Avocado ice cream had a mild creamy flavor and was very nice. The strawberry sorbet was a great full flavor strawberry. The coffee ice cream has a very nice and pronounced flavor and it married well with the full flavor chocolate. Tonight they had 24 flavors of ice cream and quite a few flavors of popsicles giving us quite a few visits to sample everything. We definitely recommend a visit to Carmen’s Homemade Ice Cream.
