Don Alex

I order a half chicken combo and the cornball at the register rings it up and says “20 bucks”. I’m like let me see the receipt. He says ok, adjusts the prices on everything and it obviously still turned out to be less than $20. He said I have to “wait for my change”. He must’ve thought I was half retarded like him to get ripped off for a half chicken. Same as the other locations, one shut down I think, because they’re just greedy horrible people. I can’t believe I even considered giving them another chance. After all that, the food turned out terrible anyway. The beans are absolutely disgusting. I’m sorry but Peruvians cannot and should not make beans. I thank God everyday I come where I’m from and rice and beans are the best on the planet.

I was a little nervous at first..the first time I visited Don Alex in Union on Morris Ave, but I wanted to try something New. My first visit was Fantastic! This is me 2nd time here and My Dine-In Experience was absolutely wonderful! Claudia smile and friendly personality is beautiful! Her greeting was warm and inviting! Alicia was Inviting, courteous and helpful! The food here is Amazing and Delicious! I LOVE the green sauce! It tasted really GOOOD with my half chicken, salad and Sweet plantains, YUMMY!! I enjoyed that my chicken was juicy, flavorful and tender! Didn't have to fight with it at all! Easy to cut up. Now I have another favorite place to come to.

They use to cook VERY GOOD but they must of got new cooks because now the food is HORRIBLE. It's either undercooked or over cooked. They either over season it or the meat looks like it was left in water for hours and just microwaved for you. ITS HORRIBLE. They don't even cook it peruvian style correctly. Most of the time the fries seem like they were from the day before. And if you complain they just find a reason to blame you for not liking there food. Waste of Money. Better off going to Don Alex in Elizabeth then this one!

My daughter, granddaughter & myself got locked out of car & walked around corner from Union movie theatre in POURING rain & came across this restaurant while waiting 4 AAA 2 arrive. Young lady standing outside suggested "Don Alex Special". Placed order 2go. It was DELICIOUS rotisserie chicken well seasoned; FRESH salad w/red cabbage, radishes & tomatoes; substituted yellow rice 4 fries; side order of fried sweet plantains 😋. Plan on returning n near future 4 sit down meal. Nice dining setting. Reasonably priced☺
