My husband and I went here for the first time tonight and we had a wonderful experience! Our server Michael was personable, funny, and his knowledge of the menu was on point. The oysters were some of the best we’ve ever had, and it was really cool to know where they were harvested. We will be back!

What a pleasant surprise! We were coming up the Gulf Stream and needed to duck into the nearest port to get away from some nasty weather and touched dry land for the first time in 2.5 days. Based on the marina’s recommendation we decided to give this place a try. It’s amazing on every way! Amazing staff! Amazing food! Amazing drinks! Amazing atmosphere! Thanks for the hospitality, we will definitely be back. Steve, one of the owners was delightful to chat with. Thanks again for creating a memory on our journey.

1st visit to Mr. P's where I received exceptional service. This is one of the best dining experiences in Southport. Trinity was amazing explaining the specials. I highly recommend the Blue Crab, Oysters 3X3 and the crab dip enjoyed with a glass of Caymus Cabernet. I also recommend the Blackened Tuna with asparagus as a main entree. The Key Lime pie was the best and is homemade!

Edited review. I can’t begin to tell you how fabulous this meal and entire experience was! The food was superb! From the French style oysters to the cup of clam chowder everything was amazing; BUT the show stopper for me was the Soft Shell Crab served with a side of fried green tomatoes and fresh corn…Oh my!!!! 🦪🦀🌽💓🍽
That was last summer and I’ve thought about that meal continuously since! Excited to return, I have to say the food was just as outstanding as before! Service was again exceptional! I love Mr P’s! You guys set the bar very high for the area!!! Go!!!!!

Just got back from our first visit. Excellent food cooked perfectly and served to us by Michael who timed everything perfect right down to when to as if we need another drink. Everyone was friendly and complimented the food, service, knowledge of menu, and substitutions. Highly reccomend this place. Tight quarters for parties next to you for noise. I had blackened swordfish with a fantastic lemon cream sauce that was so good, and their clam chowder was excellent.all sides were fantastic and a large flexible menu. My wife loved her prime rib and stuffed lobster tail.Everything was fresh!

Mr. P's Bistro is a hidden gem in Southport, North Carolina. Nat was awesome!
The restaurant offers a menu of fresh, locally-sourced seafood and low country cuisine. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend Mr. P's Bistro to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Southport.

Oh, Mr. P's was very warm welcoming and food was very good. We started with a drink, a Margherita and a warm roll, and got fresh NC clams a tad salty but was warned a head of time. They were good. We also tried the fried green tomatoes, vey good and sauce was great. I had started with a ceaser salad with anchovies also very fresh and delicious. I got the 8oz prime rib, so tender and juicy. My sides were 4 scallops, fried green tomatoes, and potatoes. All very good and flavorful. It was a very nice restaurant and would definitely be back. Thank you for a delightful evening.

We had an excellent diner while in Southport at Mr. P’s Bistro! We shared the 3x3 oyster appetizer and it was delicious and pretty filling as far as an oyster appetizer! The meal portions were generous and my husband and I each had leftovers to take home and enjoy the next day. I had the crab stuffed fish of the day, which was flounder, and it was absolutely delicious. The grits and fried green tomatoes on the side were also enjoyed the next day! My husband got a blackened prime rib and he said it was delicious. He was able to order it Oscar style and it was a huge meal! A friend recommended this spot for dinner, and we will definitely be back! As other reviews mention- definitely make a reservation!

This is a wonderful restaurant with a fine-dining atmosphere! Definitely call ahead by a day or 2 to get the day and time you want to eat because it's very rare to get a good time the day of since they're so busy... for good reason! I have eaten at this restaurant multiple times and have never been disappointed! The Oysters Rockefeller are a must try appetizer! I could eat all 6 by myself but I was generous and shared them! 😁 When you're in the Southport NC area you should absolutely plan to eat here!

Fantastic food, very competent wait staff.
Mr P's has made it into our regular rotation of restaurants. Fantastic entrees, we have been eating our way through the menu. At this visit, the three of us had the duck with honey and thyme, prime rib with crab stuffed lobster tail, and fresh flounder with lump crab meat, asparagus, hollandaise sauce (I.e. "Oscar"). We shared bites from each other's dishes and agreed all were excellent. Shared appetizer was crab stuffed mushroom caps. Shared dessert was vanilla cheesecake with strawberries and Belgium chocolate. Only the price with a generous tip keeps us from going weekly.
Normally when it is just the two of us, we start with either the raw oysters or the 3x3. Then we skip dessert to limit the cost.
We aren't a fan of the mostly southern style vegetables (Lima beans, collard greens). We upgrade to a salad. Salads are extremely good.
Our waiter tonight was Kevin - excellent service.
As a practical matter, reservations are required. It's a rare night you can get seated without them.
