1814 Restaurant

A wonderful restaurant in Southampton to have very well cooked Chinese cuisines. All those dishes I ordered were delicious. Especially the traditional Peking roast duck (1814 signature) is superb. It has nice private dining rooms, advanced booking recommended. Located in central Southampton, very near to major car park, and walking distance from historical attractions.

It's a fine dining restaurant in the city centre that serves best Chinese food. It has a fantastic selection of vegetarian food as well. The menu is quite elaborate and the food delicious. Good number of cocktail and mocktails as well. The ambience and aesthetic is really wonderful and the staff very friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience.

We absolutely loved our late lunch/ dinner experience in this restaurant. We odered omnivore set menu for two people for £45pp, with various meats options, vegetables and egg fried rice. The food was very fresh and full of colour, cooked just right. We were also pleasantly surprised with the size of the portions which was just right too! In addition, need to mention the nice atmosphere and beautiful interior, all restaurant is decorated with sakura tree blossoms. Maybe the service could be improved since it felt a bit too long waiting times between different courses even though it wasn’t busy, but overall we had a great time!

The best Chinese restaurant I've ever been in. Really lovely atmosphere, staff very attentive and delicious food, quite different to any other Chinese I've visited. The desserts and teas are good too. I would have given 5 stars but we were disappointed to be told we needed to purchase a pot of tea per person at £6.50, and wouldn't let us share, one pot is easily enough for at least 2. We had spent a lot on our meal. However over all a lovely evening and would return.

This reminds me of the restaurants I visited in Beijing with the private dining rooms along the side. The food is excellent. The service tries to be really good but sometimes slips up when the staff get distracted. We went for lunch and were only given the a la carte menu, luckily we knew there was a lunch menu because we had checked the website before going. Booking was really effective via the website. Yes, it is expensive but the quality of the food is excellent so I don't begrudge it and will save up and go for special occasions. The decor is very glam but quite fun - don't miss out a visit to the loos. Give it a go!

This place is 5* the atmosphere was relaxing the staff were brilliant, food and drinks were ordered within 10 mins of being seated and was on the table within minutes, the food was the nicest we have ever tasted and cooked really well , it is pricey however you don't mind paying for a great experience and great food
