Found this gem via Google Maps while on holiday. What a lovely place! A warm welcome, attentive service and a fine interior made this the perfect place for our first ever delicious 'high tea' in England.

Delightfully old fashioned cafe selling real home made food. We arrived at 2pm and some menu items were sold out. No fetching some more from the freezer here. Hand made bread rolls and cakes like your granny’s. Wish I lived nearer.

My cousin has been visiting this cafe for many years. We ordered two jacket potatoes with bacon and cheese. The portions are enormous! I had the soup which was specialty cooked for me as I’m lactose intolerant. It came with a huge bread tea cake made on the premises. Can’t fault it. Two ladies were having afternoon tea with fizz and it looked amazing. It’s also a quirky shop. There was a lactose free cake but I was so full up I couldn’t manage a slice. May be next time!

Popped in for a light lunch and enjoyed the quirky atmosphere, and music. Plus if you like the look of the decor most of it is for sale. I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, in regulation triangles and my daughter had a vegetarian chili wrap which was piping hot and cheesy! Having demolished that we had to have scones and cake, it almost seemed rude not to. Excellent fare and the staff are both unobtrusive and helpful which is a rare combination in this day and age.

Love this place! Perfect venue for a very low key not-a-hen do. The food was amazing (as always) and we had a smashing time. Nothing was too much trouble and we took the bits we couldn't finish home to enjoy later. Highly recommended, can't wait to return.

Please don't let the above comment influence your opinion on this place as it is an absolutely lovely place to visit! ... We were stood on the street it told us to and according to my phone I was right in front of it... but where was it?? That's when I noticed this building across the street.... I pointed it out to my friend and they said "Surely not, it looks like a shop... is it even open?" So we crossed the road to find out. Peering through the window I could see a counter with cake and a couple of chairs in the dark corner. We tried the door to see if it was open as we might as well had explore it anyway even if we didn't end up eating here. When we first walked in it looked more like a bakery than a tea room. We were greeted almost immediately by a very lively lady dressed as if she had come straight out of the 1920s. We told her we were looking to have a spot of lunch and she told us to follow her... We led towards the back of the shop, down a little flight of stairs, past what looked like a small bar... And then at the very end it opened out in to a larger lighter room which took us by total surprise! There was only one
