Chaps

Last year the portions were excellent and the pricing wasn't too bad. Over the last few months I've noticed that the portions became a lot smaller, especially with the fish and service was becoming sub-par, such as missing condiments and rushy employees... Recently we heard that Chap's is under new ownership, so we had hoped that there were improvements, tho we we're disappointed yet again. Not only are the fish portions still skimpy, but the prices went up drastically. Pretty bummed out.. I will say tho that the staff pays much better attention and are more friendly, but unfortunately that's not a saving grace.

Chaps Richmond has been under new management since mid-Feb 2022 and they have made some great changes that has brought me back to this establishment several times since. Good meals, expanded drink selections, yummy cheesecakes (evidently weekends only), great customer service and wait staff always smiling and friendly! The food was slightly higher than meh. But took forever.... at least an hour to get food. The ribs were fall off the bone tender but my steak was tough and chewy.. I didn't start timing until after my soup was gone which already took awhile to get and it was another 40 min. Until the rest of the food arrived.

Walked in and got stared at, no sign to seat yourself or wait, waited 10 minutes for server, 20 minutes for drinks, another 15 minutes to place out order and 40 minutes for our food, server was horrible, she cleaned off empty tables with an empty restaurant before refilling our drinks or simply check on us. Food was good but not for the price and horrible service. We will go to Ken's or Hamilton next time.
