General Bourke

This is the kind of venue that you want to love. Good decor and a nice bistro area with outdoor seating. Food was a bit of a hit and miss. The lamb and scotch fillet were amazing, on the other hand the prawn linguine and the rigatoni were average (at best). What really left a bad taste was the service... The bar person had one of the worst attitude I've ever experienced. After putting our order through, we were told by another staff that they ran out of an item we ordered. When I went up to the bar to put in a replacement order, I was told to go tell the kitchen myself because he couldn't put it through. There was no other customer waiting and there was no effort made on his part. Fine. Not a big deal. It got even worse when later on I went up to ask for some tap water for the table, I was given ONE glass and pointed to a tap at the bar. No further explanation given. Will definitely not be back.

Always perfect food and service!! I visited here today for lunch 🍴and the experience was outstanding!!! The staff were super friendly and helpful and provided great service. The food was extremely fresh and delicious, with the steak cooked to perfection 👌 Great vibe with some fantastic live music too!! They have a variety of sport showing.

Plenty of space. I only go there rarely, and usually outside of general busy times. Naturally I sit alone, sometimes in the courtyard or else in the designated smaller smoking area. I like the sound of the music they play. Also, because it is out of the way of the main shopping precinct, there are not too many people just dropping in. When I am there it is usually quiet and I am able to enjoy a quiet drink on my own. Of course I write for myself. Not many patrons would enjoy or appreciate the kind of atmosphere that I do. Great pot plants outside, that look most attractive in summer. Everybody has different tastes and just as well too. Good Bye. I forgot to mention, there is nothing wrong with the service or meals.

About 8 people and myself went to lunch yesterday, somebodys leaving where I work. Had two beers and a Ceasar Salad with smoked salmon, the rest had pies, burgers, schnitzel. Everybody thought it's was good food. Beers were good. Some locals were having a beer, it wasn't busy, staff were nice and friendly, food didn't take very long either. Overall a decent pub I'd say.

Hard to give a rating above 1 star when I’ve spent all night and day with the squirts and vomiting after dinner last night. To make things worse we spent a good $160+ which has not made me a happy camper. I have an inkling that it was my replacement scotch fillet steak that somehow was extremely tough despite being cooked closer to, but definitely still over my desired medium rare. My family ate while I waited for my meal to be made again. Not a great experience. I’ve been coming here since it was PJs well over a decade. And I now have gastro… awesome! Thanks GB. Don’t trust their cooks, especially if you need them to make something again for you!
