Colonial Cafe

We are not from the area and wanted to try something new while visiting. We ordered chicken fried steak and meatloaf. They came with mashed potatoes, cinnamon apples, and salad. These were all delicious. Reminded us of cracker barrel and the food was as good of not better. The service, though. Wow. There are actually what seems like enough servers for the place so I can't blame covid. Our server was SO slow and seemed to forget us often. In fact, it was quite clear we were done eating for at least 15 minutes before we were able to get boxes and order ice cream. Also, the bathroom was gross.

The owner is super nice, staff is great, and the food is delicious! You can order anything you haven't tried before and you don't have to wonder if you'll like it or not! It's almost a guaranteed that you will. The drinks are very good, from mimosas to the iced coffees and frappes. The pancakes are very fluffy and fresh, and the toppings are very good as well. The wait is usually a bit long in the weekends but it's expected.

Normally we come here for breakfast and always have a great experience. Great service. Great food. Today we decided to go there for dinner. The food was okay but the server was horrible. She came over and took our drink order and then we didn’t see her for 10+ minutes. She finally brought our drinks and took our food order. My boyfriend asked for a side salad and she completely forgot about it. And then half way through our meal he asked for a refill on his drink and that took another 10+ minutes. Overall, not a good experience this time around.

Went here for the first time and will be back sometime in the near future(live about 50 minutes away). Waited for a table initially but it was right around prime dinner time plus not all tables were being used due to either the whole covid thing or being short-staffed. Either way we didn't wait very long and they were friendly right off the bat. Menu had alot to choose from which included breakfast and dinner items. Prices were higher than I thought but after getting food and seeing the big portion and then how good it tasted I didn't mind whatsoever. Plus I know these days everything costs more for the restaurants anyway. We had a very nice waitress Linda who told us right away she was sorry if waited long and that they were short staffed. She did a great job and always checked on us when able to since she was busy. Great job Linda!! I cannot wait to go back here. Thank you for the great food and service.
