Dumpling Delish

This place consistently makes their hokkien noodles excellently. It's always piping hot and flavoursome - but not too saucy - with generous servings of chicken and fresh vegetables. It could do with a few extra prawns, but otherwise I can't fault it. Their other dishes aren't nearly as well made, but they seem to have nailed my favourite dish, so I can't complain! Service is fast and relatively friendly.

If there was a zero star it would not come close to describing the dinner experience our family had experienced tonight. The Laska was bad, the Singapore noodles were worse, but it's the satay chicken that was uneatable and had to be thrown out but not before we offered the dish to our Maltese named Milo, who if could talk would be able to confirm the accuracy of this review. But even if he could, would not be able to as he smelt the lack of (but not limited to) 5 spice and chose to eat out of his dry food bowl instead. If there was an award for rawest rice this local institution would most definitely be a contender. But that's not all, we had 2 serves of the pork and prawn dumplings and both serves started off cold, but it wasn't till you got to the centre that you could really taste the frozen pork, we're still debating whether we tasted the frozen prawns at all. The Hokkein noodles, all I can say is that the chap who gave 4 stars 5 months ago must of come on a good day that this place was once known for. When we speak about quality control this local institution has failed to reason with the concept, as when the lack of quality was raised to the gentleman who took our order in person, took no responsibility for what looked like a 15 year old working the wok, and Instead told us "if your not happy with the quality of the food then to order elsewhere". In hind sight what were we to expect when it took 15 mins to make $100 dollars worth of food between the young man and the gentleman also taking phone calls & Menulog/Uber notifications and walk-ins. We did overhear the gentleman say "if you want delivery than use Menu Log". We're actually of the very few that pick up orders to support local business instead of giving it to the multinational delivery platforms, but I guess we're lucky because we'd been given that Uber bag without using the Uber app. Did remind the gentleman that a new no expense spared Dumpling Bar has just opened 4 shops up, and that he should really focus on his quality control cause it doesn't matter if you've been there for 3 years your customers might actually take your advice and go elsewhere, like Immi Dumpling Bar 562 Main Street, Mordialloc, 3195. To think we did go past Immi Dumpling Bar tonight and were handed a clean menu, but thought we'd support the local Institution with the never changing decor as they'd be feeling the pinch of the new amazing looking dumpling bar 4 shops up......we all make mistakes.

Service was great. Friendly staff. Food was terrible. I lived in Beijing for 3 years and was excited to finally have a Chinese restaurant open in Mordialloc main St. Dumplings were the worst I've ever had. Extremely oily and the dough was not cooked and very thick. The Singapore noodles were also oily and the vegetables were not cooked very crunchy. I felt like a friend of mine was cooking for me certainly not restaurant quality food.. Will not be back again.

We came here for lunch for a quick meal, expecting something really good because who doesn’t like a good dumpling. When we entered we were the only customers in there, we thought oh good we will get our dumplings fast, boy were we wrong. after sitting down we waited 20min for someone to take our order. then we waited 30min for one plate of dumplings and a further 30min for the next two plates of dumplings. The first lot of dumplings were soggy with no flavour and some were still frozen in the middle, the prawn dumplings were absolutely disgusting and not at all eatable and the chicken ones were just as bad. I would not recommend wasting your time here, not only is the service and food horrible but the whole place was dirty, it doesn't even deserve one star!

Quite average. The girl that served us was really nice but the dumplings were frozen bought From somewhere else. All the condiments on the tables were all almost empty. Had to go to 5 different table to get chill oil. The food tasted ok but really overpriced for some frozen dumplings from a grocery store.

By far the worst experience from service, to food, to hygiene levels. We ordered some dumplings at the counter. The girl serving us had no idea how to use the register. Went to sit down and most of the cutlery pieces were not clean. Waited for over half an hour for our dumplings to arrive. They had small pieces of something black throughout the dough. Inedible. By far the worst dumplings. Actually my only bad dumpling experience. I took the dumplings to the owner at the counter and asked him what all the black bits were. He said “from the frypan”. So what I’m expected to eat and pay for dumplings with bits of burnt Teflon?! I asked him to try it himself. No joy. Paid for our two drinks and left. Do yourself a favour and give this place a big miss.
