The Smoke Pit

I always enjoy The Smoke Pit , I like the food here especially the burnt ends , smoked turkey , pinto beans , red slaw, potato casserole are favorites. We have good service here . My only advice is to put silverware on table when seating guests or when getting order. We had our food tonight & had to wait for silverware to be rolled . Also food has been cold on a few visits here so an effort to get it out hot is needed .

I went through the drive thru on Dec 23, 2021. I ordered 2 full racks of ribs with potato salad and fried okra. The ribs were so tough we couldn’t even eat them. The top was chard but the meat was undercooked and nowhere near falling off the bone. You could not even pull them off the bone until I put them in a pan with a little water in the bottom and cooked them on 275 in the oven for another hour and a half. After that they were very good. But there was nothing I could do for the okra. It was completely over cooked and actually tasted like it had been left over from lunch and maybe put down in the deep fryer again to heat them up. They were completely inedible. On one of the orders we actually got two sides of okra and on the other we got one side. All three were terrible. All of this costed more than $68! It was definitely not worth it especially if I’m gonna have to cook my own ribs. I’ll buy them at the grocery store from now on!

I wish I could give it 100 stars! This place is the best bbq I've ate I'm years! And I'm from Lexington NC so I know BBQ! I can't even begin to describe how the brisket just melted in my mouth. And the deviled potato salad is perfect, the broccoli salad is perfect but the banana pudding well it's heavenly! If you haven't ate here, you owe it to yourself to do so! If I died tomorrow, I'd be okay with life if this was my last meal! Mad love and respect to establishment! Thank you for the very enjoyable and most wonderful dinner I've had in a very long time!!!!!! They hook it up!!!!it's very expensive but very worth it!!!!!!

I ordered the sloppy pig because you are what you eat. Alright, you can now take a breath and compose yourself after reading that knee slapper of a joke. On the side, I had collared greens and a Corona. All and all it was a good choice and I would definitely come back. Our waitress was outgoing and funny.
