Foundations Bar

Traveled from the east coast to Milwaukee and FINALLY visited Foundation Tiki Bar. Let me tell you, it was worth a trip ! The best part of it is the unassuming entrance! In my mind, I’m thinking, “ this is one of the best tiki bars in the nation?” And THEN…. I entered! It took a while for my eyes to adjust to the dim lighting but, once I did…… I was transported to another time and place! Complete tiki paradise! From music, vibe, decor and fabulous Trader Vic Mai Tais….. I was in tiki heaven! Please… treat yourself to tiki paradise! Visit foundation!

Perfect tiki atmosphere. Music was cool and not too noisy. Drink was delicious and boozy (I ordered the Pulau). Service was very friendly. The vibe is laid back, as it should be. I was visiting from out of town, and the neighborhood is also funky and adorable. My only complaint is that their branded, signature mug and Mai Tai glass are a little basic. I buy a mug at nearly every tiki bar I visit, and I waffled on buying one from here (but ultimately did, because I’m compulsive). Otherwise, this is a top-notch tiki bar.

Foundation: Considered by many to be one of the top ten tiki bars in the world, this hidden treasure is located not under the sea, but in Milwaukee. Awhile back, I was introduced to the bar during one of my friend's bachelor party. Even though it wasn't my bachelor party, this is the perfect bar for me as I'm a fan of all things tropical (and a hater of WI notoriously bad winters). The owners have spent years constructing one of the most interesting interiors in MKE and that's no easy task with a tiki bar in the north. An amazing collection of Polynesian carvings, artifacts, decor, and appropriate lighting all contribute to accomplish the south pacific atmosphere. Their goal is to provide the best cocktails around, in an exotic setting that takes visitors away to another place and time. I'm definitely due for another visit (as you can tell from the pics this was back when I had a pretty poor camera in my phone), but from what I recall this place easily accomplishes the owner's goals.
