This establishment is very cozy and unassuming. I didn’t think twice when I ordered to chicken sandwich, boudin, and gumbo. Just grabbing a quick bite before I went to church. The chicken sandwich blew my mind. Perfect flavor!!! I ran to the kitchen to see who the little black lady was who prepared. To my surprise, the Chef was a Seth Rodgen look alike. This man is like a good scientist. There is something mystical about his food. So much flavor!!! I don’t even like Gumbo but his with the potato salad changed my life. I hope this place keeps this Chef because if he hits LA, New York, or Chicago….he will be a very wealthy man. The food was simple the best I’ve ever had and I’m close to 50.

Delicious! I got the fired green tomato sandwich and it was really unique and delicious. Will come again. Everything we tried (fried chicken, gumbo, bean and tahini dip with plantains) was super good! Great atmosphere for kids. Mine really enjoyed playing while we waited for food (not a long wait at all on a busy Sunday) and after.

A simple but delicious menu; portions are a little smaller than restaurants nearby, but they will satisfy your taste buds 🙂

Decent burger but not worth $16 and the fries were not very good. They call them tater logs but they're more like wedges and you get just a few slices. The fried chicken was plentiful (1/2 chicken) but very greasy. It was like it went straight from the fryer to the plate without being drained of the oil.

This place had one of the best gumbo I've had in a long time. Rich in flavor and texture. It is quite autentic. The Luke's Chicken sandwich was surprisingly delicious. The chicken was juicy and the breading crispy. The surprising portion was how the unique toppings worked so well with each other. The chocolate bar was absolutely worth the extra time. Micheal was a great example of what wonderful waiter. Promot, observant, and friendly.

The restaurant was cute pretty inside, nice outside seating as well as stuff to play with for kids. Food is expensive for what you get. I got the chicken sandwich, which there chicken is what there know for. It was good but the thickness of the chicken and the type of crunch could be compared to a Popeyes chicken sandwich but for $13 dollars. Menu is super small. Nice hangout spot, will probably try again for their drink menu. But it was just a ok place to eat.

Had Mother's Day brunch here. Charming little eat spot in old Mandeville with plenty of outside seating. Menu is a bit limited, but it's a small local eatery. Had the mothers day special, along with chicken biscuits, fried boudin and more. All of the food was great- flavorful and great presentation. The one and only issue i had was that all the plates were too small for the food items on them. My biscuit came on just a 4" tin. Highly recommend stopping if you're looking for a nice leisure dining experience. This isn't the place if you're in a hurry. All the wait staff was super friendly, attentive and nice. They are DOG Friendly too!!!

This restaurant doesn’t miss a step. The atmosphere is relaxing with interesting things to look at and the service is excellent. But as it should be, the food is the reason to come back over and over. IT-IS-AMAZING! On the recommendation of our waiter we had the chip and dip plate to start. Do not confuse it with what might automatically come to mind when you hear that description. They have created what can best be described as a humus, but instead of chick peas, it was based on lima beans with garlic, tomato, and cucumber and whatever else their genius chef combined to make a wonderful blend that was bright, savory and simply delicious. It was served with their salted plantain chips for the perfect combination of flavors. What made this especially memorable for us is that my husband hates lima beans and I have never liked “homemade” fried chips of any kind. This appetizer was so good, I was tempted to just skip an entree and order it again. Luckily I didn’t, because I would have missed the best fried chicken of my life! We shared a very generous 5 piece order that came with an amazing biscuit that is grilled with honey butter and accompanied by sliced bread and butter pickles. The owner calls them “fickels” (for fat pickels). We enjoyed a lovely French Chardonnay and topped it off with their take on strawberry shortcake. Truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had! Do yourself a favor and wherever you live, make Hambone a destination in the near future. You deserve it.
