Absolutely 5 star, our first time here for Sunday lunch and the sharing platter for 4 was excellent. The 3 meats were each one beautifully cooked, moist and succulent with just a hint of spice. The potatoes and vegetables were gorgeous and the cauliflower cheese just scrumptious. The staff are friendly, helpful and so pleasant. We were too full for deserts but it was impolite not to partake and how glad we were that we did. Please book, a truly exceptional restaurant whose owner is a delight and his staff are a credit too him

I visited Zouk last week and absolutely loved it! The Alice in Wonderland/Mad Hatters Tea Party decor was incredible as you literally enter the restaurant 'through the keyhole'. The food was so delicious, generous portions with incredible flavours and presentation. The staff were friendly and attentive, Bhargav was very helpful with recommendations for which cocktails we should order. Will definitely be coming back to Zouk very soon!!

Wow, we just had the most amazing brunch experience at my friend's restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that made us feel right at home. The menu was a brunch lover's dream, with a delicious array of options to choose from, we opted for a sharing platter and let me tell you, it was absolute perfection. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, and every bite was a delight. To top it off, the desi tea was rich and aromatic, the perfect companion to my meal. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better brunch experience. I'll definitely be back for more!

Me and my friend decided to visit Zouk on our lunch break. We ordered the mixed brunch platter with a side of french toast and Matcha Latte. The food was delicious and bursting with flavour. The matcha latte was also the best I have ever had, with a hint of cinnamon…just delicious! The staff were friendly, the venue was beautifully decorated even down to the luxury details in the bathroom. We can’t wait to go back

Well deco restaurant. Great ambience. We reached the restaurant on Sunday 1pm and no waiting time for the table. Serving within 15 minutes upon ordering.
We ordered Sunday Roast, the mini lamb roast. It was so well done. The fat and meat portion was roasted perfectly. The Yorkshire pudding was also nicely done. Every combination comes to perfection. WOW. 5 stars
We noticed some couples who ordered a platter for 2 cannot finish as the portion was quite big. Unless you are big eater or else advisable stick to single portion.

Fabulous place with delicious Indian food. Service was great. We came at 4pm for pre-theatre menu where you pay £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses (menu available daily 4-7pm). Our group of 4 was delighted with lamb dishes and desserts. Took a bit longer than expected to wait for food to come out but was worth it. Full and happy bellies, thank you!

My mum won a competition to visit Zouk tea bar and grill for a free dessert and milkshake each. We had never been down this area of Manchester before but was pleasantly surprised by what we found. The outside was adorned in a gorgeous flower wall and the inside was decorated very nice too. There were some delicious dessert choices and after a long deliberation I decided on the white and gold chocolate bauble and mum went for the crème brûlée. We both had chocolate milkshakes. Honestly everything was divine. My dessert was a white chocolate ball with caramel mousse inside and adorned with biscuit crumb and caramel sauce, one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Mums crème brûlée was amazing too. And the milkshakes were decadent to say the least. Highly recommend this place! P.s if you visit, go to the toilets, I’ve never seen anything like them in my life!

Lovely side spot in Manchester just out of the way enough to not be overpopulated. Very friendly staff with beautiful seasonal decor and a grand facade (great for photos).
Food arrived fast, beef steak was a little tough to cut but nothing to mark down on, table was a little small for the platter sizes however.
Overall happy with the service and food, slightly pricey but still a good visit for a gathering meal or event.

I ordered butter chicken and vegetable biryani from Zouk today and I know I ordered Hot and its not the first time I am ordering Hot
I am an Indian and am used to spicy food but today I don't know what chef was thinking but he added chilis as if there was a sale or something on chilis there were more green chillies than chicken or curry in my butter chicken and more chilis in the biryani than vegetables.
When confronted this to the restaurant they didn't care about it at all and said they couldn't do anything about it.
Worst food I ever had

I come to this rest. frequently. One day I did a dinner for my friends there. Interiors are classy and the staff are warm welcoming. The foods we ordered were quite tasty but one of my invitees who is Indian informed me that the meals are not ”authentic” Indian platters in terms of savour. A negative thing about Zouk is that during the weekend the place is utterly busy making the staff confused and inefficient.

A 10 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. The place gets really busy during late evenings. The grill / cooking area is open and hence you to smell all the kebabs being char-grilled. This doesn't really add to good dining experience. However, the interiors are very good with optimum lighting and high roofs.
Service is very quick and proper. The taste of food is not great. Aloo paratha was very bland and did not have adequate filling in it. The garlic naan was a bit too rubbery for my liking. The side dishes were ok but very oily. I had a limited range of vegetarian items to chose from and I blame it on me for choosing this place which has more variety for non-vegetarians.

This was my go to place in Manchester because I lived on the 4th floor of the same building. It is located at lower ormond street. The breads are very good - must try their Garlic naan. The curries have a distinctive taste. Gravy portions are small and good for one person. The service is good and prompt except on weekend nights.

Ruined our evening. extremely understaffed and cocky manager who expected us to understand when our orders were not taken on time and not delivered on time. So, most importantly, this place is a school in atrocious service. Extremely slow, unfriendly, unprofessional and understaffed.

Food quality is inconsistent, could go both ways depending how lucky (or unlucky) you are. Also overpriced for what it is. Shisha is more often on the downside.

Never come on a Friday/Saturday night thinking you'll find a table outside. This place is in my opinion overrated and pretentious. I have been a couple of times and found that the food is ok and the service is poor. High prices are justified by presentation of the food. In my opinion fancy presentation can't make up for unfriendly and cold customer service. If you're easily impressed by things that appear flashy this is the place for you but if you want really genuine eateries there are plenty down the road in Rusholme.

I ordered a takeway of paneer tikka and aloo paratha. The tikka, even though a starter, had only 3 medium pieces of paneer. Plus, the menu says it will be served with charred peppers and onions but what I got was some charred aubergine! Have never eaten tikka with aubergine, so bad. The marinade on the paneer was good. The paratha had very less filling of aloo. For the price, i expected it to be more filling. Disappointed and may not go again.

The place just oozed with style, a delightful ambiance, great service, fantastic food, great chefs, just everything here I would rate a high 5 out of 5 ! For starters, lamb chops, 2x chicken liver, scallops, paneer tikka (cheese). Main: chicken korma, salmon, zouk gourmet burger, 2 x beef steak. I ordered a special blackberry floral tea, and it came in the most stylish little tea pot and lovely tray! the presentation was quite impressive. The food itself was just finger licking! The lamb chops was so well done and juicy. The chicken liver was the table's favourite. The scallops was nice too. My salmon with an asian twist was SUPERB!!! I eat a lot of salmon, but this dish was spectacular! The salmon was not small in the least, I barely managed half! One of the top manchester restaurants! best of all.. the price!! astonishing!! I would happily pay double!

I should really stop reviewing Indian restaurants or should I say Asian restaurants because I can never give most of them more than 3 stars. I have been to Zouk a few times over the span of 3 years that I have been living in Manchester. They have a sister cafe Kukoo's and to be fair I prefer that more.

Things to look out for:

Outdoor Sheesha-- The only one on Oxford Road, though it could be not the best idea during winters or when its pouring down (which is most of the time, we live in Manchester love)

Mango Lassi - They definitely know how to make a good and fresh Mango lassi and thank god they don't use pulps!

Aloo Paratha - They nailed this one as well and it was well tasty and I don't usually say that.

Things to beware of:

Extremely slow service - omg I am not kidding when I say this, we had to wait for 50 minutes to get our food on a weekday afternoon when it was not even busy!

Not so friendly staff - Firstly they are under staffed, and on top of that the staff think they own the world so they have this attitude where they couldn't care less.

Burning Tongue - I am Indian and I can handle my spices but even then I was in tears after having a few bites of the chicken we ordered *phew*. Yes the food is supremely spicy here and that is not exactly my thing. I like my spices just enough so that I can enjoy the flavors and the taste!

Verdict : Good in terms of British standards but not for people who have tasted the real deal!

Food ok but terrible service. Avoid unless for takeaway as the service in this restaurant is shambolic!

I took my Dad here as a treat. From start to finish the service was very slow and laboured. Upon arrival we were told to just "sit anywhere". Having sat for 25 mins I asked to see a food and drinks menu. We were served both courses without any cutlery or serviettes and then had to wait 10 minutes for them to be brought to the table. The mains arrived 10mins apart and when we ordered more rice and naan that took over 20mins! I have no idea how the waiting staff make a simple job seem so difficult but they seem to walk around in a constant state of confusion mixed with disinterest. This is a shame as the food isn't bad but save yourself a lot of time and money and just go somewhere else.

When you make a sweeping statement like 'Best Indian in Manchester' as I did of Mughli the other day, there will always be a few people who disagree. Of course, I don't know if Mughli is the best Indian restaurant in our city, I've not been to every single one, but it's my favourite. This is another place that has been on my radar for some time. All my friends love this place but for one reason or another I have never been able to join them on their sojourns down Oxford Road to Zouks. Last week I finally got to go and my only regret it that I didn’t go sooner– in short, this place is fab! The decor is sophisticated – clean lines and an open kitchen. There are huge big windows which let in a lot of light, so it all feels modern and fresh. Serving staff are very friendly and prompt. There is an extensive menu, some unusual things like pig trotters sit alongside old favourites, and there is an excellent choice for vegetarians. Being die-hard paneer fans we opted for starters of Paneer Tikka (£3.95) and Palak Tikka (£3.95). Both dishes were really substantial. The Paneerr Tikka was really pleasant, and cooked on the tandoor. My only complaint was that the Palak Tikka came with a very unusual dipping sauce (which seemed to be mostly cloves and nutmeg – very reminiscent

Excellent food, ambiance and service. Our visit to zouk last week was a good experience of delicious appetizing food which was served quickly by friendly staff. We tried a few items on the specials menu which is quite rare in indian restaurants to find we had made an excellent choice of dishes. I had the soup and the chicken and mango salad both of which were a wonderful light starter. For my main i had the zouk special steak which was cooked to perfection which came with hand cut chips and veg. The desserts were freshly made by the in house pasty chef, the selection was great and had something for everyone, i choose a mango cheese cake which was perfect. We did try the sheesha outside with mint tea which was a wonderful way to end the evening, very relaxing.

Up its own.... well, Rusholme is better put it that way. Curry is special. We love curry. This is among the growing throng of posh curry houses, always nice for a treat right?
You can see what they are aiming for - a luxurious experience in an indistrial Mancunian setting. It's industrious alright, very noisy, you can see (and hear) all the noise the cooks make. The waiters seem stressed out - rushing you for orders instead of providing that warm hospitality that we know and love in curry houses.

Drinks prices - above average and not a great selection. Cobra fans note that it's £6.50 for a big bottle, £3.50 for small bottle. Rip off. Real ale drinkers - Black Sheep (bottled, £3.95) is your only option, I've seen much worse!

Poppadoms - 65p each, 3 chutneys are £1.50. If you like pretentious presentation and stingy portions, you'll love the sauces. You get 3 - a minty / corriander blent, half a rub of red onions and mango chutney. The pots of sauces were served on long wooden holders. Very impressive looking but only made stingy portions look bigger than theyw were. We ran out quickly. The poppadoms themselves were also pretentious - they had some sort of grain (linseed?) in them but were ultimately salty and greasy. Ours were not cooked peoperly and stuck together. When I told the waiter they were not right, he abrubtly asked, "Whats wrong with them?". The fact that I had to explain that they were not cooked properly and stuck together spoke volumes - a good chef wouldn't hand them to a waiter, a good waiter wouldnt serve them. To be fair, the waiter apologised profusely and replaced them, "on the house".

Starter - None of my firends were that impressed, they ordered various meat, fish and veggie stuff. I ordered Aloo / Spinnach paratha with raita. £3.95 but you get a £0.95 portion. Not special and too much salt.

Main - this was hard to order. I went with my usual Panneer Jalfrezi. Not on the menu, but the best curry houses (e.g. Kushoom Kolly of Heaton Moore, Azad Manzil of Chorlton) all make this at my request. The waiter said they dont do it, I pointed out that they do paneer and they do jalfrezi so maybe the chef would oblige. He did and it was decent enough - as good as you'd get in Al Bilahl (Rusholme) or Azad Manzil but not a patch on Kushoom Kolly. The mushroom pilau was a 'spot the mushroom'. They served it in fake wooden (plastic) pots to try and be different.

Naan bread - average quality but expensive.

Deserts.... they rush over a portable pyramid of trays of desserts, so at least you know its pre made. None of us bothered.

Hot towels - I miss these and am not a fan of the microwaved baby wipes that we get these days. This restaurant goes for the wow factor by presentign a tray of small white discs. They pour boiling water on and... hey presto - a hot towel!

Ambiance - if you like dark settings, open plan kitchens where you can hear loud chefs barking orders and a long upstairs walk to the toilet - this is the place for you. Big glass windows, a lot of steel, high ceiling... corporate. Don't expect to leave the table without pushing your friends out of the way, and expect a claustrophobic experience.

Service - abrubt. You know how some waiters rush you and boss you about a bit... it's that sort of place. Sometimes this afront is worth it if the waiters know what they are doing. These don't. They also put the 10% service charge on the bill automatically. I wasnt going to pay this but then I was reminded that they gave us free wine when they bodged up 8 of our starters. Having tipped them though, they were no longer free.

Overall, not a very pleasant experience. Food not BAD but not great. Rusholme might not be pefect, but it does what it does well. This place goes for the wow factor, a bling curry. Unlike it's Deansgate counterparts, it falls on the same place it dissappears up. It's own arse.

Huge disappointment!!. We booked a table at Zouk, having read good reviews online, and were impressed when we arrived at the smart, modern venue. However, they claimed to have no record of our booking and suggested we have a drink in the bar while a table became available- they estimated 15 minutes. Over an hour later we were still being ignored while people who had arrived after us were being seated,( despite 2 more polite inquiries when we were told a table would be free in 15 minutes) We gave up and left, unfed at 10.15pm. Diabolical service, would never return and would not recommend :-(

We visited Zouk for a weekend birthday meal and it was mostly a good night but with a couple of niggles. Waiters work very hard but seem to be understaffed as they are running about but leaving diners waiting for food or drinks. Food is great. Had the halibut which is delicious and highly recommended if you like fish of course. The lemon rice tastes of nothing so don't bother but this is very minor. The poppadoms and dips are dismal. One chutney (ok), one mixed chopped veg (zzzzz), and one coriander creamy dip (vile)! The restaurant was very busy and conversation was quite loud but this wasn't helped with drum machine crap Muzak at high volume which eventually got tedious. This would be my main reason fir not bothering with Zouk at the weekend again. Mid week finds the atmosphere a lot quieter and better for conversation. Overall though, great food for a reasonable price in a modern environment.

For weeks, if not months, a friend of mine had been trying to persuade me to try Zouk on Chester Street, and of course I thought the very idea was insane. "Why on earth," I would say, "if I was going to eat anywhere in Manchester, would I go anywhere other than Curry Mile in Rushholme?". And given the sheer consistency and quality of the food there, I think you would agree I had a point. But more recently the buzz of recommendations for Zouk had reached an even more deafening level as I learned a couple of colleagues at work had been and declared it (brace yourselves) "possibly" even better than any curry house in Rusholme. So that was that - on Friday evening I wandered down. The menu was a mixture of Indian, Pakistani and North African cuisines. On arrival we ordered a Meat Mixed grill, Tandoori haddock and Pahari tikka, and you could immediately tell this was a kitchen with a supreme command of the grill. They were (and it almost pains me to say it) every bit as good, as the grill from any excellent curry house in Rusholme - succulent and salty and dripping with fantastic tandoori spicing. Mains like Special Zouk Karahi was amazingly rich and meaty, and the Fish Karahi had such a wonderful tomatoey, gingery, garlicy , herby sauce, that I almost licked the bowl clean. Great stuff. So, and here comes something I never thought I'd say, Zouk may have done enough to replace Rusholme's Curry Mile as my favourite curry house choice in Manchester. Zouk serves tasty, authentic food in its contemporary surroundings. It has everything going for it. Let's just see how long it takes for the rest of the city to catch on... can you keep a secret?

"Great food, shame about the service" The food really is good, better than the meal cost suggests - their chefs deserve commendations. That said, we'd got a last minute booking on a Saturday night at 8pm, and from the off it was clear that they weren't able to accommodate us. We had to eat our appetisers at the bar. We ended up being seated upstairs - above the kitchen, which was unbearably hot without air-con - our main course didn't arrive until 10pm by which time the restaurant had turned into a night club with loud thumping music. On the whole; great food, good value but at a 'cost' - it has put me off going back

Its Curry Jim, but not as you know it!. Tucked just off Oxford Street this place delivers in substance and style in a very spacious, modern setting. "Tea Bar and Grill" massivley misdirects the casual passer-by - this joint is a bona-fide knock-out Indian restaurant. I only went in on the off-chance but have been back 3 times in the last month. The first thing you'll notice is how fresh the ingredients and the dishes themselves are- no warm-ups from the weekend here! A large open planned kitchen takes up the whole left hand wall where around 5-6 six chefs can be seen working the ovens and gas-tops. Just watching them cook is a fascinating experience in itself alone. For first timers go for the "Chicken Imlee" (kebabs with tamarind and plum sauce) followed by the "Handi" for a main. FORGET RUSHHOLME on the way home - you wont find anywhere near as good as this place!!

The staff is lovely. They are friendly, attentive and accommodating. The owner came to our table to talk with us for a while, and ten personally removed our plates himself. The food is lovely, though not as spicy as I normally like it!!
