Ruby's Diner

Sadly so many Ruby's Diners have closed in recent years in Orange County, but this is one that has stood the test of time, thankfully. We stop off when making the trip down to San Diego along the PCH, and always order a Chinese wanton salad, chicory burger and fries and strawberry milkshake. All are really tasty and reasonable priced. Service is always good and you are offered seating upstairs on the patio overlooking the sea or inside. Plenty of free parking in their own parking lot which has a few classic cars outside.

Our recent visit to relatives in the US included a drive down the PCH from San Francisco to Dana Point and one of our stops included a meal at Ruby's Diner. I have to say, this was the highlight of our gastronomic journey in the US. The atmosphere, service, food and general feel was everything you would expect of a 40's/50's themed American diner. We found restaurant food in US generally overpriced and bland, but dinner at Ruby's was the exception. The warm evening weather, clear blue sky and gorgeous sunset by the Pacific Ocean for a backdrop helps the mood no doubt, but I would readily recommend - well worth a visit and take your camera!

My first time at this franchise and let’s just say they knocked it out of the park! This would’ve been 5 stars possibly, but truthfully out of the group I personally only purchased coffee which was great. Our waiter was extremely charismatic and knowledgeable and spoke just enough without becoming a bother, any mistakes or something that was cold was fixed asap and without hassle. The environment is amazing with what seems to be a malt shop 50’s/60’s scene with cars out front and seats from the past. Loved it and you will to, highly Recommend.
