Max Downtown

Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT restaurant! Highly recommend if you are in the area. The food was phenomenal and the drinks were amazing. We came here to have dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were so happy we did. We even got a little extra dessert for the occasion :) The staff was amazing and very attentive.

What a great meal and great service! The steak was phenomenal and my favorite asparagus! Everything is a la cart so be prepared to spend a few bucks! For desert I had the baked Alaska and that was spectacular as well! Our waitress Ashlyn was super helpful and kept my glass full. So darn friendly! The meal tastes so much better when there is great waitstaff!! I definitely recommend this place! Godspeed!

Absolutely phenomenal dinner. Everything was amazing, from drinks to dessert. Melinda was a superb waitress, all of her recommendations were on point, and she was incredibly attentive. Highly recommend the spring thyme in the city cocktail, prime strip steak, filet mignon, loaded baked potato, street corn, asparagus (grilled!), and extra shaken espresso martini. Definitely pricey but every penny is worth it!

I had my Birthday dinner at Max Downtown last night and it was such an amazing experience. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the Chilean Sea Bass with couscous and veggies, it was the best fish I’ve ever had. My favorite part was the excellent service our waiter Josh gave. He was extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made me feel so special on my birthday. I would definitely recommend Max Downtown if you are looking for a fine dining experience and hopefully you will have Josh as your server!

We dined on 2/12, and enjoyed the Valentines Day prix fixe menu. The menu had a nice range of options. All of the food was delicious. Presentation was great for everything. The meal waa excellently paced, and we never felt rushed. Service was attentive and polite, but not hovering. As ever, Max Downtown proves itself to be a solid core restaurant for Downtown Hartford.

I am never disappointed with a visit here! I came in for a happy hour with a friend after work and was happy to see it bustling already with people at the bar. We got a seat at a high top table and were greeted right away. The happy hour menu had good food and drink options, I especially appreciated the buck a shuck oysters! My friend got a cheese burger and the happy hour price was only $7 which was a great deal. The $5 martinis are also pretty solid. Our waiter was extremely attentive and checked on us a few times. He was quick with service and also friendly. I definitely recommend a stop in.
