I like this pub as it has a cozy, chilled vibe. Food is okay. Service is slow but staff are friendly and lots of option of where to sit as is quite a big pub.

Food always good pub grub, can be a while to wait for though unfortunately...even when kitchen not too busy. Lovely inside, a little escape from the hustle and bustle literally a short walk away at Mount vernon hospital. Good for families, well lit, spacious and food to suit all

My first visit since my father's death in 2009. A local man, he was a regular for several years, so much so that The Gate staff put out a glass of red wine before his arrival! I don't live locally, but on the strength of my most recent visit I wish I were. Waitresses Emma and Cara looked after me admirably (Cara even assisted me with my wi-fi connection) and barman Charlie offered me a warm welcome. The food was excellent and the CHICKEN TIKKA KASHMIR STYLE CURRY was a revelation. So much did I enjoy this that I tried to return to take advantage of your 40% off offer, but doctors' appointments and 'life' intervened to prevent me from doing so. I was devastated!

Met some old friends for a meal at The Gate - never been there before. From start to finish, the whole experience was delightful. Food was excellent and beautifully presented, and the young serving staff were outstanding in their care of our table. Food was at the more expensive end of things (for us anyway!), and sometimes you can come away from meals like this begrudging the experience. Not here though - it was definitely worth it and very enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend.

The Gate freehouse pub was fantastic.The "Tribute "beer was fresh and at the right temperature. Food ordered had arrived fairly quickly. Chicken wings and half ribs rack crispy and soft inside. Friendly unobtrusive service. Good atmosphere 👌.

Not a bad place. We had the ultimate burger and steak & Guinness pie. Chips and onion rings were on point, the burger was decent and well done which I appreciate. Pie was the best. Prices were reasonable and huge menu of pub classics. Felt like it wasn't so easy to get a well rounded meal. Plus Free parking with lots of spots, just remember to register your plate at the bar!
