Christmas night out with friends Always a warm welcome from the staff. Food was amazing as always the ambiance of the Lowther is traditional mixes with old fashioned. Gets my vote every time.

Friendly staff, great food and amazing atmosphere in this historic hotel. Comfortable, quiet and very spacious room. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which is enormous. The bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to get up!

I have been here a few times and the food is always to a high standard. The only reason I didn't give it a 5* is because the service is very slow. I don't think this is the waiter/waitress's fault. I see they have lots to do, so for me it looks like it is under staffed. As I had good company and nothing else to do those days, I didn't mind the wait.

Went for the Sunday carvery which is well worth the trip, brilliant melt in the mouth meats and excellent veggies. Cauliflower cheese was particularly good not watery and still a bit of bite to the cauliflower, roast spuds were excellent too and the mash was lovely and creamy.

Very impressed. Clean, modern, comfortable and spacious room with a great shower. Friendly staff. Great food with generous portions. The evening meal offer for guests is really good value. I usually stay in the big chain hotels, however, lack of choice in the region led me to the Lowther. I do not regret the choice. Offers everything the larger hotels do in the way of facilities and a few extra luxuries to boot. Did not use the WiFi so unable to comment, however, I had full 4G signal so had no issues. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

The room was excellent and so was the service and breakfast! Thanks guys! Our one issue, we came back to the hotel just after 12am and had no answer from the night porter at the front door. We then tried to venture through the adjoining nightclub and and had no idea where we were going along with feeling like we were walking through the bedroom of a pubescent teenage boy. We managed to follow someone else who didn't look like they were clubbing and ended up being greeted by a code-locked door. We knocked... And knocked... And knocked... Maybe 10 minutes later, a rather useful gentlemen ,whom I assume went through the same traumatic experience, opened the door and we finally made it to bed! Just a short story to highlight the hotels one issue. But genuinely a really nice hotel and stay!

Stay here for the night on the 6th may 2017 ...... as we came to see family !! What can I say about the hotel...... it was amazing, my uncle booked us a family room with breakfast the next day !!! The room was lovely had everything we needed and more !! The breakfast on Sunday morning was beautiful..... on the plus side we was right next to the docks so we got to take are children for a lovey walk ..... and the check out time was as late as 12 afternoon. We will definitely be coming again
